CAMC Avtex Tourer 2 Sat nav vs Tourer 3 Sat nav .

Hello Everyone

I am considering updating my old Sat Nav . Has anyone got any experience please of the CAMC Avtex tourer Sat Nav range. I think they are based on the Garmin system being camper specific. Does anyone know the difference between the Tourer 2 and Tourer 3. I believe the 3 has superseded the 2 but cant find out the differences . Any advice or opinions on these units would be very much appreciated.

I think the 3 has a higher resolution display but I couldn't see any other differences

I have the 3 and touring Morocco at the moment, it’s working well with the only proviso to check your
Destination carefully on google earth. When you get near, a few times it’s brought me to the rear entrance or a torturous route to a site, in one case it meant a reverse around several very narrow 90 degrees turns back to the main road, when the proper camp entrance was on the original main road we were on,
But all in all it’s been a good upgrade to my old Snooper so worth the Buy IMO,

Not altogether sure I would call that working well. Have you played around with the vehicle size in settings?

Yes it’s set too 30ft long 9ft6in wide and 11feet high and over 3.50t, all settings above the real size,
Yes it’s set to Motorhome and not car,
It works well until you leave the A and B roads usually near your destination, when it will send you down roads obviously not suitable for a motorhome, even though when you arrive there is often a much better alternative,
So easy solution is Google maps to check it before arriving near your destination,

The Two is a rebadged Garmin Camper 780 and the Three is a 795.
If you go to Garmin website you should be able to see the differences. Alternatively, you can download the manuals from Garmin.

l have bought it and its always been a problem with update ,says not enough space l have a sd card in then says go to garmin express wont work rang them ,they wanted me to put my computor through to them ,l said no-way they told me nothing they could do tried again no luck sending it back . l have had both garmin and tom tom yrear old still work and update ,was just asking on her for recomdations for one . Sorry cant be more positive works ok but no good to update .

Also find the CAMC garmin, takes you off sensible main roads and onto unsuitable narrow roads, we also have an older tomtom, which despite not having size input, mostly takes us more sensible routes. Have been using waze at home quite impressed, but not looked into whether or not you can input size.
Find the Garmin less intuitive in use than either Tom or Waze.

hi i have the avtex 2 and love it i was going to upgrade to the bigger screen i watched a you tuber who had both .say the newer bigger screen one is not as good. he said the processor is not as fast as the old one

Ah that explains a lot Gellyneck . Mine must be the first one as it’s a Camper 770. It’s still taking updates. I am up at the NEC later in the month so will visit the Avtex stand and see if I can find out the differences between mine and the newer models . My MH has an Xzent head unit at the moment ……that really is poor . The interface is so slow and outdated. I will also visit Alpine and Pioneer to see what replacements they can offer .Thanks for the info .

I've had the Tourer 2 and now have the Tourer 3. It's a better unit generally, better display with easy zoom. Easy updates, never had a problem. The 3 has the Google earth view of destination which is useful. The main change is the Trendy Places feature (yawn), not for me Generally faster processor and seems easier to use coordinates. Finally, the eco zone routing is better. You can also buy the version with the crash cam the 3 plus.
