Absolute beginners.
As in the title,I have just had the cambelt, and auxiliary belts changed. The van has covered 35k miles. It was registered March 2019, so components will be a bit older. 20240722_191919.jpg20240722_192000.jpg
That's the old belt, which to be honest, it's almost impossible to see any discernible wear on it. I think that even had I caught sight of the belt beforehand I would still have replaced it. I had one go on our T25, and they go without warning, and that one didn't look to shabby either, except for the break in it:rolleyes: and was on the list as the next job to be done . Also had the front disc and pads replaced as we tend to wear through them a bit quicker as were now 4000kg. The pads were down to 5/4mm, and we have several UK trips planned, and another French foray booked for later in the year. The back disc and pads are still well within tolerances.
I looked on line and found that the belts needing changing at anywhere between 4years, 5 years, or even 7 years, depending on mileage and main usage type.
How comfortable would you feel pushing a motorhome past the 5 year recommendation for a belt?

Not at all comfortable. Not worth the angst. I did once have half a crown on the office Grand National sweepstake but not with possibly thousands. I'm no gambler and mine would probably let go far from home.

Mine would to. We have also noted when walking around a lake or similar, it only starts to rain when your at the furthest point away from the van  .

Yep, and the gas always runs out when I'm cooking something. ;)

In over fifty years and many hundred thousand miles of motorhoming, my gas bottle(s) of various makes and sizes have never ever, ever run out when I wasn't using gas for something or other.

It's like when you ring a wrong number by mistake... it's never engaged.

Just a couple of life's mysteries I guess.

When I done my last cambelt change and replaced the serpentine belt, the old belt is now in a bag in the engine compartment, it’s perfectly usable in the event of the new belt breaking, so no anxiety,
