In view of posts recently bemoaning No Calor -Help helpful funsters-
we have 2 Lite 6kg propane bottles [and one heavy one ]but I am hoping to keep the lite ones. Got a refill from a camping shop miles away last year but they were possibly not an 'authorised' calor gas supplier as I now can't find them on any calor gas site maps. There is an eBay seller with a full lite to swap for my lite - seller with a CV5 postcode - but again the searches for calor stockists don't show this place. Spoke to a nearby camping shop who are happy to swap for a full weight bottle and they said some people fill gas bottles without being authorised - is this true ? Is this a bad idea? In interests of safety should I just swap Lite for heavy ?
Thank you

Ebay buying does have that risk but may be totally genuine, check the selling history and feedback to decide if you think it is a genuine offer or not.
There is no disadvantage with the heavy bottles except the extra weight so for piece of mind an authorised retailer may be best.

Just checked and can get them from Homebase, I’ve had no problems getting them from Daventry store( shows in stock in several stores around Rugby)
Won’t be the cheapest though 🙄

Please don't go down the self filling of a standard bottle route... Yes very dangerous and does happen and is one of the reasons that garages frown/ban the filling of even refillable bottles.

But these are not calor bottles ? so I assume won't be swappable? But thank you [yes eye watering price to buy system !]

Standard calor 6Kg are cheaper than the calorlite if you can find any.
I’ve switched to 1 13Kg bottle cheaper per kilo of gas.
Johns Cross motorhome when it was still open wasn’t listed on the calor site.

This afternoon I have just been able to purchase (exchange refill) both a regular Calor 6kg Propane and a Calorlite at an Industrial Gas supplier (who also happens to be a Calor Gas supplier) in the west of Newcastle upon Tyne. I found them on the Calor Gas website.

None of my local motorhome/caravan dealers have had any 6kg cylinders for the last week or so.
