Calor 6kg propane

Where was that...... we have been finding it very expensive.
I phoned Calor to find out who had a stock of the Calor Lite then phoned ahead to check stock and prices, one place quoted me £40 for a refill, I thought it was a bit suspicious when he said cash only but this place was as good as gold, whilst I was paying (by card) the new cylinder was carried to the door of my ‘van.
I am staying at Burry Port tonight, just outside Llanelli, had a lovely cycle ride along the coastal path by the Welsh National Wetlands Centre

I was worried about buying LPG for my 55 litr underhung, just discovered a small garage in Rugby, he trimmed tree's on the way in and Flogas have given him an extra long pipe, a guy out of the garage comes out to fill it for you,its 74p litre

Red - propane - when it's cold ( not just Winter - could be in the Alps during summer).
Blue - butane (better heat output) but won't work when you drop towards freezing.

Thanks I expect I will only use the red for the Cadac BBQ

I’ve just sold 4 empties on eBay. One guy travelled 50 miles and paid me an extra £5
Calor cylinders are not yours to sell! They are rented, not owned outright.... There is a facility whereby Every dealer is obliged to accept unwanted returns and pay a flat rate of £7.50 per cylinder, More if you still have your ‘hire agreement’. https://www.calor.co.uk/gas-bottles/advice/returns

I had a 6kg and 13kg in my gas locker. With the shortage of 6kg I thought I would put in 2 x 13kg as I have room and no problem with the weight. I put a request on my local Nextdoor website.
A lady 200 yds away rang and said she had one available. I went round and she was putting all her old rubbish out and paying a licensed waste carrier to take it away. She didn’t want anything for it and the bottle was full. Result 👍

It’s a pity we can’t boycott Calor! Their prices are a complete rip-off. I changed to two Safefills two years ago (1x10kg and 1x 7.5 kg). So much lighter, cheaper gas and easier to check how much left. Smaller one great for using with Cadac BBQ. Calor even tried to stop them being sold!

Where can you get safefills from?

I paid £25.70 for a 6kgs Calor Lite refill this afternoon
I paid £39.99, reluctantly, for Calor 6kg propane refill at the local BP garage near Maidstone recently. The local stockists had none available at the time.

I’m such a bad man. Hardly stripping lead off our Lady & the Apostles church roof am I?.

If only calor stuck to their agreements.

Calor is no good for us as we travel through Europe, always fitted re-fillables. The bottles mounted up partly from my business use. I’ve bought a SafeFill now for the garden.

I paid good money on all the deposits. At one point I had 7 bottles. I gave one each to my daughters, kept one and sold four.

in Spain I use Cespa, I don’t pay any deposits. Because they do not charge one.

(y) Until you can't get them filled 😥.
Refilled no problem yesterday. £12 for 21 LTRs. I put off switching to refillable but should have done it years ago

The closest to 15kg will be 13kg, a refill should be around £36

Our local BP removed LPG as has Shell in Cheltenham. I have a Flogas account and they do have a "dispenser" not too far away.
We started with a 13 and a 7 refillables and they were/ are great but as UK moves towards electric? its not so universal.
I got a secondhand Flogas bottle but the mechanical guage is awful but I have just bought a Blue tooth sensor from Gasit and it seems to work amazingly. You might find that you dont need a second bottle and it cost less that a new Calor bottle full of gas.
In Calors favour just bear in mind that all these Gas cylinders have a finite life, as do the hoses of course
So its not quite "fit and Forget" with refillables.

Is Andy's Gas Bristol open again now? Great location at Cribb's Causeway near the M4 / M5 interchange.

Oh, I have never noticed this on my cylinders before..

Our local garden centre is offering £7 for unwanted empties. I would go LPG but there is no where even remotely close to where I live in S London that does it anymore. Going to get difficult for the V10 Petrol RV guys staying in the UK.
Hi there. A20, Swanley bypass - the filling station there has LPG - usually. Though not last Tuesday. We ended up in Grays Morrison’s to fill up. It was on our way so no worries.

Tried two places this morning, no joy. Both getting more next week but have a couple more locally to try.

The Calor shop in Grimsby had a good stock last Friday but did say they had been busy. 6kg bottle has now gone up to £24. I think it was about £22 before but it’s still cheaper than other areas.
It don’t think there’s meany re fill centres in this area but I noticed one between Horncastle and Coningsby last Friday that I hadn’t seen before. It may be of use to a fellow traveler.
