Calling all the Sparks!

Now looking at a few electrical forums it appears it’s against the building / electrical regulations to run a 16A socket off of a PME TNS-C earth (a combined Earth and Neutral from the mains supply) specifically for caravans / cars.
The reason it's against the regs is, because the Earth and Neutral are combined into one single wire (that's the 'C' in TNS-C) there is a risk of losing both neutral and earth so that a fault could make exposed metal live. A normal TNS supply with separate earth and neutral all the way back to the transformer will not have that problem. That's why they specify a separate local earth, using an earth rod into the ground.

Right, I’m going to take a spur of my ring main (back of 13A dual socket and attach to external dual 13A socket with RCD.

Then use a cable with 13A plug (fused) to 16A connector to attach to MH.

Done.

Exactly what I’ve got, works fine. Double socket gets used for all kinds of stuff, power tools, vacuum cleaner for
the car/van, whatever. I only tend to plug the van in for a couple of days before we go away, to run the fridge.

Having a separate, short hook up lead is much handier than using the long one in the van with an adaptor
