At present in Spain and early next week we will be heading towards Cadiz and/or Jerez.

Any tips please on where to stay preferably within walking distance of centre and sights. We are happy with campsites Aires or wild camping.

Also what sre the must do sights please? If we can only do one of the two cities which should it be please?

Many thanks for any answers.

We had a wonderful lunch at the La Cigarella winery in San Lucar De Barameda. It's in the town and there are a couple of Aires within walking/biking distance

Very popular with the locals who were all sipping the Manzanilla wine with their lunch.

Cadiz: http://www.campercontact.com/en/spa...41/cadiz/40896/motorhome-parking-parking.aspx

Convenient for walking into City, pay at Kiosk to receive discount (pay€3), toilets open during day, can be noisy especially at weekends, read the reviews.

Sanlucar: http://www.campercontact.com/en/spa...52/motorhome-parking-sanlucar-ac-parking.aspx

We stayed on this site in March convenient for cycle ride into Sanlucar and Chipiona. We returned for a second night after visiting Cadiz, nice basic site.

We preferred Sanlucar to Cadiz, we have been to both before but many years ago, Chipiona is also worth a visit.

The central car park/aire is now closed.

Jerez: http://www.campercontact.com/en/spa...52507/motorhome-parking-avenida-tio-pepe.aspx

This stop was recommended to us but we have no personal experience.

Jerez well worth a visit but nearly 20 years since we were last there.

Aaaaaaahhhhh now you have confused me with another place to go......... :D2

We were there last week, a fantastic place. As matamoros states secure car park, plenty of space and take ticket to ticket office when leaving to get discount. You will have to do a bit of a 3 point turn to get into entrance but not a problem even for large motorhomes.

We stayed on the aire in Santa Maria, yes it's only a car park but only a ten minute walk to the train station where you can get a train direct to Jerez. About a 30 minute journey if l remember rightly. Lovely city.
10 minute walk the other way down the river to the ferry port where you can catch the fast cat right into the centre of Cadiz, again about a 30 minute trip. We stayed on the aire for 4 days and did Jerez and Cadiz comfortably. There is also an ACSI site in Santa Maria, which is also a lovely place to explore. We stayed on the ACSI over Easter in 2014 and on the aire early May 2016. Train and Ferry cheap as chips. Can't remember exact details as memory fades with age and not at home to check our travel logs.
Regards Bob and Jenny.

If you are going to San Lucar De Barameda then it's worth booking a boat trip to take you to the Doñana National Park, a nature reserve where some of the world’s most endangered species live, e.g. the Iberian lynx and the Spanish Imperial eagle. We spent a day there and really enjoyed it.

Next week is MotoGP week in Jerez. Prices go through the roof and availability is nill, so best chance south of Cadiz.

Bugger. Trust us to get the timing wrong again. We should be there Monday. Will it be busy by then?

The practice is Fri 4th so people will be arriving Thu. Mon 30th should be fine.

That's worth knowing. We've been told that the best way to get to Cadiz is by boat and then you don't have to worry about driving your mo-ho in Cadiz's narrow streets.

We are in Cadiz now, great city and easy to walk round. Staying on the car park @€3 pn. You don't have to drive thru any narrow streets just head for the harbour from the bridge. The camping at Puerto is a ACSI site €19pn but 5/6/7/8 its €19 per person. We checked out the camper contact site in Jerez, €15 top facility's electric WiFi included, parking only, very helpful and free glass of sherry, There's a bus stop outside into Jerez, €1.10 anymore info just ask.

Thanks Dave, hope you are well. Can you provide any coordinates for the car park you are using please and is it within walking distance of the city centre?

Where are you heading next in case our paths cross? We are in Cabo de Gato and are heading to Nerja and probably Gibraltar before going to Cadiz area.

Hi Peter, co-ords N36.53754 W 6.29014 get a ticket from the barrier and to get the €3 you have to pay at the kiosk when you leave also you use the ticket for the very clean toilet and yes your virtually in town. Great spot but I believe noisy at the weekends as nightclub close by so midweek better. Hopefully meet up as we're around this area till next week as got tickets for the moto go :-) will be staying in Jerez for that.

Thanks Dave, we may well meet you there then, unless I get dragged off somewhere else by SWMBO. We are trying our best not to plan too far in advance. Will let you know either way.
