Our new camper has an external gas supply point and we also got a small quick release connector with it.

However we have only used the Cadac with bottled gas before and the hose we have is far too big for the new connector.
Have looked at the Cadac webpage and a few videos but ended up more confused.

Can anyone explain what we actually need (hose, connection to Cadac etc). If we get a smaller Diameter hose to fit the quick release connector how does it then connect to the Cadac?

I have attached photos of the current hose and regulator and the new push fit connector supplied to fit the external bbq. (Please ignore the fit of the hose - photo taken when we were trying to get the hose off the regulator- we haven’t used it for a couple of years 😉.

Thanks in advance

Our Safari Chef 2 connects to our external gas point with the hand wheel connector shown in your 3rd photo screwing onto the underside of the bbq (photo 1?) and a Bullfinch connector on the other end connected to the output on the motorhome.

The blue butterfly screws to the underside of the Cadac on a left hand thread and you need to connect the other end of the rubber hose to the quick connector already installed on your BBQ pointwith a jubilee clip to hold the hose onto the spigot. The quick release will remove if you pull back the outer sleeve with the red isolated valve turned to the closed position

Most caravan shops have a spigot that will fit the hose and your outlet.

Could you try a jubilee clip over the hose and tighten hard?

We bought one of these
Amazon product ASIN B01M1RMCRW
The ridged bit is a tight fit into a normal size hose. The spigot bit looks like the standard fit for your outlet. We went through exactly the same process last year.

Thanks for that. It isn’t that End of the pipe that’s the problem but the other.

The problem is that the hose is wider than the quick connector that came with the campervan and seems smaller than those I’ve been looking at in various videos.

I tried connecting it with the jubilee clip but it will only tighten around the widest part. Will try to explain with photos
If I put the graduated end into the pipe it only grips when I gets to the smooth ’collar’. Although I can tighten that with the jubilee clip I’m not convinced that it’s wide enough to give a safe and secure grip and I’m not keen on blowing myself up 😉.

Think I need a trip to Go Outdoors to compare

Ah I see - that's an 8mm spigot whereas the Cadac is near to 10mm. You'll need one of these and a small section of 8mm hose

My reading of the OP’s issue is that the rubber tube is too wide for the brass spigot and is only tight right at the top of the spigot. So warming the rubber tubing won’t help, so far as I can see.

Edit: beaten to it by OP and others!😀

On reflection that’s what I did. Put the jubilee clip over the widest part at the top.

No leaks as I have used soapy water to check.

But those adaptors do look to be a better solution.

Thanks, that looks like it would do the job. 👍🏻

I have a Cadac safari with all of the correct cables and Maslow. I have tried every combination of levers but cannot seem to get the gas to come out. Any ideas p

Are you plugging in and turning the red connector correctly ?

As said we push the bullfinch into the bbq point with a 90 degree turn , no probs with gas supply, maybe you have an isolater turned off

AnnieB We use our cadac safari via the outside fitting.
Ours is the cadac with the Quick Release fitting on it(not sure of the technical name)
Try the Cadac UK customer service number in Clitheroe they are very good, broke the little plastic fitting the holds the burner tower on, sent me a free replacement!!
Tell them which model you have and what you are trying to do and they will be able to help.
Think the gas pipe should be replaced as they have a "best by" date on them.

There will be an isolator switch somewhere in the supply to the Bullfinch.
Manic put ours with all the other isolators for the fridge etc.

I solved ‘my’ problem with a visit to Go Outdoors a couple of months ago but thanks for your advice 👍🏻

For those still subscribed to this post, cadac now also offer a portable 'pack' which allows you to use your cadac (low pressure type) away from your motorhome.
Ideal if youre on an aire and want to use the picnic benches etc and dont want to buy a high pressure cadac.
It uses standard screw in gas cartridges and from experience i can say it works really well.
I used it in France whilst on aire where there was no space between the motorhomes and i didn't fancy positioning myself between motorhomes.
And for those who suggest that youre not supposed to carry out camping activities on an aire, i like to consider it the same as driving to a parking spot in your vehicle and having a picnic bbq at the picnic bench - so i may even do that one day in the UK!!!
