Advice please.. the last cold snap killed off the cab battery ( peugeot boxer) and despite my best efforts at revival I'm going to have to change it. No big deal, but I'm wondering if I put a solar trickle charge on the jump points or diagnostic port before disconnecting the old one, if that would preserve radio and fob settings etc whilst I change the batteries over? Thoughts please!

If you have a set of jump leads then clamp them to the jump start points under your Boxer bonnet and the other ends to your car battery or a spare battery if you have one.
I would not chance killing your airbag ECU by not keeping the van system alive with 12v while changing a cab battery.

I changed my cab battery with no problem, I just took the old one out and put the new one in. You may have to recode the radio but mine is conn to the leisure battery so I did not have to do that. Just make sure that you get a a battery for your exact vehicle so the connections fit .

Mm. Rather than 800 amps loose on the chassis from another battery (just begging for me to short it!) I wonder if the current from the the solar trickle would be enough?

likewise, didn't think about it. No need the recode anything, with original radio on a 2016.

Changed mine last week with no problem, you will have more chance blowing your airbag ECU putting jump leads on your vehicle. I fitted a slightly bigger battery just had enough space for it..

Your choice, personally I would wrap a cloth around the positive you take off of your cab battery during the swap.

Did mine a couple of weeks ago. Connected spare battery to jump leads. Placed ends of disconnected leads into plastic bags until refitting.
