My wife is struggling with the height of the cab step of our Ducato. I am looking into adding an after market step but meantime other than a step stool are there any tips you can share to make getting in and out any easier? BTW she's 5ft.

Mrs Plug had the same issue when the old bench seat was still in the cab.

I bought a second driver's seat (cheaper than a single passenger seat by a considerable margin!) and installed that as we like to have a walkthrough between hab and cab.

The unexpected benefit of having the armrest on 'the wrong side' is that she can now reach itt and use that as a 'handle' to pull herself up with.

Might be worth seeing if you can mount a handle or strap somewhere.

In the old van we used a step stool but it was a faff.

I'm also challenged in the height dept, 4ft 11 I used to dissappear behind the steering wheel when taking the handbrake off until we got an extension (no smutty comments please) 🤣 seriously though I did struggle a bit but just stepped out carefully, it's a difficult one to solve. We've downsized to a PVC so much easier now.

You could try one of these. I made one out of some strap and a old dog lead buckle.

When we first bought our present van, I could not find a manufacturer or supplier of side steps, so I made my own for each side of the van.
They make it so much easier to get in and out of the cab doors.

We had the full steps bought from eBay and installed by our local garage.

Makes things so much easier.

My wife had the same problem - she is quite petite.

I bought these and fitted them myself - very easy if you have a good drill and you know what you are doing:

They can go on a PVC or a coachbuilt. They have transformed the experience for my wife. They come with full instructions and all the bits and pieces you need.

Can she use the steering wheel to hoist herself inside? That's what I used to do, but in the end we had steps added to each side and they make all the difference.

I bought and fitted the full size ones for the wife, despite having an alko chassis and the hab door being as low as it can be, she had problems getting in any of the doors. We persevered with a folding stool and one of those handles you can jam in the door lock recess for a while but I decided to fit the cab steps and she says the difference is night and day.

Happy wife, makes me happy.
