Just bought an 04 Fiat Ducato Burstner T615 and having some teething problems. We are on EHU and for some reason the truma heating/water works for a while then you hear a click and the red light comes on? We had it on hot water setting only since last night and now seems to go to red light? Also the main light in the living area over the table and the awning light don’t appear to work. We were told these only work when on EHU and not 12V. Anyone any ideas? Is there a separate fuse box for ehu which won’t be on the 12V battery panel?

240v comes into the van via the external socket and goes to the 240 trip switches, from there it goes off to the 240v sockets and one lead will go to the on board battery charger.. Probably an Electrobloc in one of them.
That charger takes care of charging the 12v habitation system and the starter battery.
All lights will be 12v as far as I am aware.

second question.... Are you sure your Truma is electrically heated and you've not simply ran out of gas..... I know my 03 isn't electric, only gas powered hot water and heating.

Can't help with the electric heating as we only use gas.

Regarding the awning and 'main' light, on our Burstner we initially had similar problems till we sussed out that one of the switches by the hab door is a two-way which is used to knock the 'main' light off by the door on leaving the van and back on again as you enter.
The 'main' light wont work by the normal switch if the two-way is off.

Good Luck

My 04 615 didn't have electric heating and the lamp over the table and awning light were only 12v

Ha I never thought of that, same with mine too but with me I am forever turning the outside light on instead of the lounge light.. :D

All your lights will be 12v unless someone has modified the wiring. Sounds like someone was pulling a fast one there ( they are faulty) or it is as Barry above says, the light switches.

On our '05 T680, the double switch by the door works the strip light and the awning light, might be worth prizing the cover off and cleaning/checking the terminals and they definitely both work on 12 volts. ?
Also, late last year, our Truma started playing up a bit like yours, would run for a while and then the red light would come on. After doing a search on here, we replaced the Truma bulkhead gas regulator with an 8mm Cavagna unit from Auto gas 2000 (£24) and it's been fine ever since.
