I’ve been through some old threads that more or less asked the same question:

“how the heck do I replace a Burstner high level brake light?”

The overall conclusion was that it is glued in place & you probably have to use a heat gun to soften the adhesive before prising it off.

But no one reported back on those threads to say they had successfully used this process.

Has anyone actually replaced their high level brake light in this way?

Any tips on best practice & procedure?

It's only held by double sided tapes. Plastic levers will remove it ok.
👍 that’s the kind of reassurance I was looking for 😊

So a bit of heat and some plastic levers should do it without damaging the body of the MH.

Not worried about the brake light being damaged, new one due Monday.

Decent quality dental floss will remove it without risk of panel damage.
Right - get the thread behind the light unit to pull it off 👍

Great suggestion - thanks for that.

Yeah, get it started under one end and pull it along with a sawing action until you get to the other end. It’s what us motorcyclist use to remove old BMW fuel tank badges.

As a matter of interest, as I also have a Burstner with high rear brake light; if it broke and you covered it over with a plastic cap rype thingy, who would know and would you be breaking the law by doing so? Is a high level brake light mandatory for MH manufacturers to fit?

If it's there, it has to work to pass the MOT
If it's not there it doesn't matter and will pass MOT

Took a while but I’ve got it figured out now 😊

The Burstner high level brake light is indeed glued on.

Tried the cutting glue with strong thread method - but about half way down it got very sticky and constantly broke thread.

So I snapped off everything from the back plate and used a heat gun - on low - to melt the glue and pull it off.

The recess where the wires and connections sit was full of a weird “goo” that was a bit like dense but soft foam - clearly to seal up all the gaps and protect the wires/connectors.

Scooped most of it out to find the wire connectors, so had to find out what the heck it was in order to replace it.

Some research revealed this “goo” to be Non Setting Bedding Mastic.

Took a while yesterday to find somewhere I could get something like this physically from a shop (Pioneer Caravans - Peterborough) rather than online, as I need to get light fitted for MOT next week.

Easily available from lots of online shops as either Hodgson or Carafax under the spec IDL99 - I’ve got Butyrub (😂) Polybutene Permanently Plastic.

Hosing with rain now, so I’ll fit the new brake light tomorrow.

I have a ‘no supply’ issue with my high level brake light. I fudged it through the MOT with a plastic cover plate, but want to get the light working. Does anyone know how I would go about either replacing the wire, or locating another feed? I can’t locate the other end under the vehicle.
