BURSTNER Habitation battery isolation.

Hi all. As a new member to this forum and to Motorhome ownership, I’m hoping for some advice.
I’ve bought a 71 plate BURSTNER 744 and have already had some incredible trips. However, it’s going into secure storage for circa 8 weeks between now and year-end. There appears to be a habitation battery isolation switch on the main fuse box, below the cab passenger seat. Is it necessary to isolate the battery using this switch as the vehicle will be turned-over for 30 mins each week whilst in storage and has a solar panel. Thanks.

Personally I'd suggest taking it for a run once a month be better than just turning it over. Better still just make a point of using it even for a single night if you can. If all the 12v is turned off at the control panel, that would be enough rather than full isolation. Do you have solar topping up the leisure battery and something like a Batterymaster topping up the vehicle battery?

I do have a solar panel but not a Batterymaster as it is stored in a compound. A regular run out sounds like a really sensible suggestion which I’ll do. Really appreciate the guidance and what a great forum! Sure I’ll be making much more use of it in the future.

If your Motorhome solar system cannot charge both the leisure and starter batteries the Vanbitz battery master suggested would also , if fitted , keep the starter battery charged from the leisure battery while it was being charged from the solar . It is easy to fit and works well

I agree with the above suggestions. We purchased a new Burstner last year (22 plate) and store remotely). Initially I used to turn off the 12v isolator switch on the electronic box below the front passenger seat but I think that is only recommended for very long shut downs. I ended up have a battery master installed as whilst the solar panel was charging the hab battery, it wasn't charging the starter battery, meaning I was initially bringing the MH back one a week to plug it into the mains ( a real pain). Once I had the battery master fitted, it charged both batteries from the solar panel, juggling between the two depending on their voltage. I much more relaxed about the whole flat battery situation now and it was worth the money (about £250 incl. installation)....and I don't need to turn off the 12v isolator. I do though agree with other Funsters on this post; I would recommend you taking it out at least one day a month during storage, even if it's not overnight, just to get the engine up to temperature and to give the inside a good airing.

If you you are having a regular run out especially in winter try and do it on a dry day, if you do it in rain and then immediately store it again you can get all sorts of problems.
