Burstner Ixeo
Exp
Since 2022
We have a 2020 Burstner Ixeo which has just passed its 3rd birthday. We are towards the end of a 5week france/spain/portugal trip and currently back in northern spain.
in France on the way down we stopped in a motorway aire for lunch and were unable to start the vehicle afterwards. The Electrics were dead. Motorway breakdown man was called but could not diagnose anything but after a lot of rapid twisting the ignition key, the engine started and we were on our way.
moving forward 4 problem free weeks - we parked the moho at a hotel (for a celebration) leaving the fridge running on the battery. We returned to check it 4 hours later and found that the fridge had tripped out. I checked the electrics control panel which showed only one red light at 11v on the leisure battery. The engine battery also looked low considering we had done approx 250k that day. I also found that the pioneer satnav had restarted in setup mode. To save this being a shaggy dog story we have today travelled a further 300k with the fridge and satnav tripping out several times which we have found that we are able to reset by turning the battery button off and on. The fridge is currently on mains electric and so far no problems. We are also considering running it on gas when we next move on.
any thoughts, suggestions, remedies etc would be gratefully appreciated..

Wow. Firstly, the fridge does not operate on 12v unless the engine is running, leaving it for four hours means it was just waiting for the engine start again, so not actually working.

Sounds like it could be an earth strap issue or something to do with the D+ signal from the alternator. Experts will be along soon.

As an aside, a pal parked his motorbike outside an hotel and couldn’t start it. A local suggested he move it a few yards and it started. Seems an underground electric box was interfering with the immobiliser system.

Many Thanks - I’m learning. I should read the manual more often
No, and yes. We have been motorhoming for 5 years and caravans before that for decades. Always learning. But the expertise on this site is beyond compare and priceless. Fill your boots on the advice here.

Only on some vans most German vans you can run the fridge from the leisure battery if you wish but only advisable if you have plenty of solar coming in.

I find this very interesting as I have a 2021 Burstner Delfin and I have a similar problem. This has only just started this year. I have been in touch with them in Germany but got no satisfaction or answers, I am wondering if there is a component problem that Burstner is not telling us about because only in the last month I have a friend with the same problem and he is in Spain trying to get home to try and sort it out.

On my Rapido the fridge 12V is from the LB either Manual or if on Auto switched by D+ or S+ (not normaly wired in but may be) (votronics duo in my case)

Just Catching up on this. One year on and we stopped after a long run in a lay-by in Switzerland for a coffee. Went to start again and exactly as before, the battery was dead. However we had come prepared with a jumper pack and quickly restarted. No other problems but I kept the auto stop/start off for a few days and the rest of our 6week croatian break went without problem. I am now addicted to carrying the jump pack but will try the earth strap 'fix' when it warms up. The problem is that you never know if you've fixed it or if it has just stopped happening! I'm interested to know if there have been any further issues
