Good morning all
I’m having a problem sourcing a provider that will insure me when leaving my property empty for over 60 days while we go travelling abroad. The normal websites only cover for 30 days under the common Building & Contents insurance cover.
Can anyone suggest a provider please
Regards to all

Have you no-one that can go into your home and check everything is OK, send a couple of e mails out to you etc.

I believe ours has the 60 day limit, but if anyone stays a night it resets. Also I believe the 60 day limit only affects theft from garden/shed and water damage. So for most things we'd care about its covered.

(I say "i believe" as not gone away for >60d in last 5 years, but same provider as when we did)

Yes I can as my daughter lives nearby. Would this therefore not require extended cover?

We're with LV and the standard is 60 days which is enough for us.

Whoever you insure with you will need to ask the question about whether the time resets if your daughter checks the property. Usually it has to be someone staying at least overnight.

We are with the Caravan Club and have 90 days, I believe that we asked for that and they added it to the policy

M&S insurance cover 90 days as standard.
LV will also extend cover but put restrictions on like the property must be inspected weekly.

I’ve checked with providers and unfortunately this arrangement is not permitted under their terms and conditions! Bloody annoying

Thanks very much. I’ve just joined the caravan club. Initially they allow 60 days with a further 30 negotiable
Appreciate your advice

I did the same exercise previously and the only ones I could find which gave full coverage for 90 days (no reduction in what's covered) were very few.

Our household insurance fell due for renewal 2 weeks ago we received the renewal invitation from Caravan Club and despite no changes, claims etc there was a 22% premium increase. After speaking to broker Devitts there was nothing they could do. We also wanted 90 days unoccupied and found Marks and Spencer was offering a very competitive premium together with better cover than previously provided. The M and S policy is underwritten by Aviva. Obviously we changed.

Check the Camping and Caravanning club as I think they will cover up to 180 days unoccupied.

So long as they don't think you're in a flood area. 😳

Well done unfortunately I tried M&S and it was significantly more expensive than the quote from caravan club!
