The silver case was what I started out with as “cabin” luggage a couple of years ago which was put in the overhead lockers then they reduced the size to the turquoise case size! Now they have reduced the size to “must fit under the seat” size and you have to buy another Feckin suitcase/bag!!!
They even sell cheap tickets where no baggage of any size is allowed!!!! But they will allow you to BUY a suitcase/bag space and it’s nearly the price of the ticket!
AND Ryanair is 40x20x25
Sleazy jet is 45x20x36

We recently flew EasyJet with the “free” under seat option. Nobody even looked at the luggage either out or in. We then put them in the overhead locker both ways as well.

WHat a coincidence
daughter in law, boarded with use on Ryanair and paid the "priority" so she could take a cabin bag on board, but also booked one in the hold.
decided last minute the cabin bag she has used on many many Ryanair flights will do, so didnt check in any bags. (she travels a fair bit with work)

stopped at boarding the plane, to big???
what, explained it fits always used and have paid for a check in bag surely we are ok ....etc etc, (there were poeple getting on with bags big enough to be sherpas)
I intervened and asked, but no sorry policy sir Im afraid. SO said to her dont argue it pointless
She had to pay, but they didnt take contactless by phone at the gate ??? cash or direct card, she only had her ame...NO WE dont accept amex.
I paid with my bank card This was all after a good 10 mins messing about.

SOOOOOO, what now, oh, take your bag down to the stairs of the plane and pass it to one of the baggage guys loading, we shouted no one came, we waved,(we could have just boarded tbh with the bag) a guy came over, erm theyve just charged us 40 quid and said give this bag to you, nah its fine just take it on board love. Haaaaaaa, couldnt make it up

She sent a letter of complaint 2 weeks ago and got a refund today from Ryanair

all it needed was a little common sense at the time. What a complete waste of everyones time including Ryanair offices.

It depends the airport, person and even day you fly ie if the flight is full or not.

I just take a shoulder bag these days for 2 or max 3 nights, after that an overhead locker trolly case for up to 2wks. I fly pretty much every week so this all becomes a game to me, although i do sometimes loose😂

I did win big time some years back with EJ when flying back from Brussels. I had 2 extra boxes of samples on the return, each box was about half a crisp box size. Of course at check in i was correctly informed that I’d have to pay €40 per box…. At the next counter there was a technician repairing the check in counter and i noticed a role of duct tape in his bag, i asked if i could borrow a bit and proceeded to tape my 2 boxes together, the check in person just smiled and said OK €40 then😂 i felt very smart for once in my life (don’t worry it’s not happened since)

Some people just hate value for money and that's how it is 😏 each to their own.

Bet you hate wetherspoons too, and you wouldn’t be seen dead in Benidorm 😉😁
I am not saying this to be awkward, but I just love Ryanair, if Ryanair don't go there neither do I.

I’d be seen dead in Benidorm, then I wouldn’t have to suffer it! Spoons is a different beast entirely and I quite enjoy them occasionally. Each to their own I suppose.

I have been all over Europe with them for a lot less money than bus fare to the airport.

Sorry I really don't understand. We have flown with Ryanair countless times over the last 20 years, never had a complaint, when my wife was travelling alone and was ill, she had excellent treatment and care.

The bottom line is that they are a budget airline, but generally use much newer and economic planes than many other airlines. yes even I get a bit annoyed with the booking system, but if you look at the bottom line I have rarely paid more than a tank of fuel for an individual flight even with all the bags.

I haven't flown easyjet so much, but still good value for money, but prefer the leatherette seats on Ryanair which can be kept cleaner than the cloth on easyjet, that I have noticed can look a little grubby.

The thing is it's transparent. You paying for a seat you get a seat. You want an extra legroom one, priority boarding, bags food on board you see the cost and decide if it's worth it. In days gone by we flew business class east mids to Glasgow ( someone else was paying) and they rushed around giving you food on a trip that took less time than a lot would driving to the airport.

Hi i use Ryanair quite a bit. I can get everything I need in a medium size rucksack which fits underneath the seat in front quite easily. This size of luggage can last me for four days so what’s the problem?
Off to Germany in October £39 return
If you don’t like it, don’t use it,. It’s the same with Wetherspoons love it or leave it.

We have not had a problem with Ryanair - you just have to play the game by their rules, of course making sure you know the latest version of said rules. When we used to go motocycle touring my wife called herself the Ryanair pillion as she used to fly by Ryanair to somewhere near our touring destination thereby avoiding a ferry or tunnel trip and a long shlep down to Spain, Italy, etc.

Yes, we live less than 10 miles from East Midlands, but even so a taxi to and from the airport often costs as much as the plane fare!

The EU is trying to come up with a standard size and weight for cabin baggage that will be enforced across all EU flights.
Don't hold your breath waiting!

It is funny how diferent peoples experiences differ admittedly I haven't been to East Midlands since 2018, but we used to go there a lot to visit the inlaws. And regularly had problems.

One time it was 5:30 in the morning and some upstart in security wouldn't let us through untill we had managed to get my bum bag and my wifes handbag into our carry on luggage, ok that is what the airlines required at that time, but absolutely nothing to do with airport security, their job is to ensure that what you take through is within regulations.

Other issues is with special assistance, one time with my mother in law, the helper asked her for her bording pass, which he had already been given, he denied it and insisted she went through her bag, on not finding it, he stroppy started taking us back to a ryanair desk to get it reprinted, when a colleague caught up with us with the bording pass, he had left it in the staff toilet.

Another time, we ended up sat on the plane with another person with a wheelchair for 15 mins, until two special assistance people turned up with a lift for the plane, got us to the ground, one then disappeared with a lift leaving two wheelchairs and only one person, so my wife (who also has walking problems) ended up pushing her mother, while I struggled with 2 cabin bags and an oxygen concentrator, which was bad enough, but we were picking up a hire car, and at that time it was a good 10 minute walk from arrivals, around the outside of the departures building, to get to the car hire offices, as we arrived I hardly said anything, before the hirecar guy gave me an airport complaints form to fill in.

But I guess if you are local and didn’t need special assistance, you wouldn't have experienced most of these problems.

Have literally just returned from Spain on a Ryanair flight into Leeds Bradford Airport at a ridiculously late/ early hours flight.
Aircraft full, the usual shenanigans of bag size for cabin use in overhead lockers, but food and drinks served were efficient, fast and reasonably priced.
Cabin staff were competent and obliging and the flight of 2 hours went smoothly.
Leeds Bradford Airport on landing was another story!
Over 600m walk from plane to terminal, then up 3 flights of stairs to a higher level, then a further 3 mins walk to the baggage reclaim area where a delay of over 15 mins before the cases and pushchairs etc started to appear.
Plane had a lot of small children on who used pushchairs, which , although unloaded on the runway, were not allowed to be accessed until the baggage reclaim area due to "Airport regulations, thus rendering a lot of tired parents with equally tired children having to carry their offspring for quite a way to the baggage reclaim area before they could acces their much needed pushchairs.
Eventually got our case and then proceeded to reclaim our car from the meet and greet section where it should have been waiting, only to find it had not been brought up to the car parking area so ended up waiting a further 30 mins whilst they faffed about trying to locate it.
Absolute shambles of an airport, poor facilities in washrooms and rest areas with furnishings made of stainless steel metal akin to those used in prisons.
Never ever again will I fly from that airport as our usual local is East Midlands, but on this occasion the option for our available dates to travel were not conducive with their flights.
I will, however, continue to use Ryanair as they serve a purpose for our needs and most certainly will go from East Midlands or Brum.
But never again from Leeds Bradford!
