Hi guys n gals, do any of you have the full width brush type mud flaps fitted to the rear of your Moho to prevent mud etc from covering whatever you are towing, like a toad? Are they effective? What the hell do I search for on internet?
Kathryn is getting a new Toyota Aygo X in September, her current white Aygo was mud brown by the time we got back to Dieppe a couple of weeks ago.

TIA!

Can of worms opened with the legalities of toading in France and Spain! Have a look for RV rear mud guards E bay Fiamma Rear Mud Flap from 2007 for Caravan/Motorhomes or RV Mudflaps on Amazon or outdoorbits

Absolutely NOT interested in toad can of worms! Done it twice now, last year to Loire valley, this year to Il de Re and had no grief whatsoever, passed loads of gendarmes too! There is a french company making A frames now….. Thanks for your reply, will have a look now.

I have seen toads arriving on sites with a cover over the front of the car similar to caravans. Maybe that would be easier than fitting the brush guards.

We had them on the rear wheels of the trucks & coaches, they were excellent but, of course, these vehicles were not towing a toad. 🤔

Google RV dirt skirt and you get a choice. I fitted one to my Hymer and previous RVs and they work well but ensure that there is around 50 mm ground clearance when fitting to avoid kicking up stones.

I'm pretty sure the main advantage of the brush type is reducing spray for vehicles behind rather than mud although I suppose the two go together to some extent. As others have said is it legal or would you be better with a trailer I suppose if it sits higher it wouldn't get as dirty

My van had one on when I bought it.

Pulled into a petrol station in Spain that happened to be full on police cars - a policeman came over to me and asked "why the moustache on the back ?'

I don't tow anything so I took it off

I had one on rear of my RV , found it tended to push the spray out past the ends of the flap rather than up the rear middle , it was able to handle going over kerbs well .

I misunderstood, those are not the type I had, mine were like normal mudflaps but the inside was spiky not smooth. 🤔

I think Owen they are anti spray suppression with the spiky surface on the inside.
