Limping home from the ferry with door fastened with bungee straps as the top catch is stuck in locked position. We had the same problem with a previous Hymer B690.
Please can anyone suggest where we could get this fixed if only temporarily. We desperately don’t want to go to Travelworld - terrible experiences. Help anyone. Thankyou to this wonderful community.

Can you post any pics. Hopefully this bump will bring some help / experience 🤞

May not be the same type of door but we had a similar problem on our AT.
Basically, what had happened was the spring that retains the locking catch had broken and this was dropping down through gravity into the locked position. It was a matter of "holding" the catch open with an elastic band (hair band!) that held the catch in the open position but allowed it to close (the hair band was acting like the broken spring but externally to the door panel).
Permanent fix was to remove the door panel and replace the broken spring.

This might be of use?

Can you re-route via Pershore ?
(M5 between Gloucester and Birmingham)
Motorhome Locks is at WR10 1HJ

The other place that does general motorhome maintenance is near Maidstone in Kent, so close to the M20 and M2.
Apex Motorhome services however they are not open at weekends

Otherwise a google will give you a couple of companies in the top half of England that do commercial van locks.

We avoid Travelworld like the plage, too.😀

You may well need a new spring for the catch -available through Hymer Owners Group on Facebook.

We bought a couple and had them fitted ( in about half an hour), by Knights of Arley. They're based near Tamworth now. Very knowledgeable about Hymers, helpful and reasonably priced (a complete contrast to TW).

We intend to use them for any future work on our van.

Thankyou everyone. We were freezing so came straigh5 home to Windermere (also freezing!) Our door catch is solidly stuck open so going to try to locate some springs and get someone to dismantle and fix. We can’t do it.
If this is recurring Hymer problem, why don’t they improve the locks? Daft question I suppose.!
