Red warning light not long after we set off on next leg of winter tour, red light check water. Had just checked before leaving but engine felt a bit odd. Pulled in beside a garage, mech found broken plastic water pipe and all coolant had gone down the nearest drain. He couldn't (wouldn't?) help so I called breakdown service.
Took them nearly 5 hours to find us (we're a bit in the back of beyond) and guy immediately noticed engine mount bolts on right side broken and motor had dropped - so water pipe broke!
He recovered us back to his depot and agreed we could stay until breakdown service found us a repairer. Parked us in a workshop space, next thing he's taking it apart, seems confidant he can get us back on the road.
RAC have been pretty good but Friday afternoon in Portugal? Said they'd come back to us Monday as we're safe and secure for now.
Fortunately we're in no rush, also a bit lucky that this place happy to try and fix otherwise could be waiting a long time.
Just thought members might be interested.

I'll update when we have anything to say.

Looks like you are in a fairly good location...make the most of your weekend... we've been in the same situation on a number of occasions both in Spain and Norway...hope you get sorted soon...

Hi.
Again..... Where abouts are you ?
Tea Bag
Sao Pedro do Sul, it's a bit NE of Vizuel. Which is NE of Coimbra. Actually stayed last night on a P4N spot in the town, coincidence where breakdown truck brought us.

When my top engine mount failed and the engine dropped, luckily for me, it didn’t split the coolant hose, but sheared off it mounting, however unbeknown to me, where I was pulled onto a recovery truck, the rotation of the wheels and hence drive shaft, tore my outer driveshaft rubber, so when the upper mount was repaired and driveable, grease was flung out of the split and over the lower part of the engine, which was fine, as that in itself was harmless, however the fact that the steering joint was now exposed to the elements wasn’t.

Luckily I noticed the grease and found the split rubber and replaced it tootsweet, or it could have been an expensive repair if the driveshaft had failed.

Thought I’d pass it on, just in case.

Looks like you hit lucky with the recovery guy and will be back on the road soon.
