I’m writing today to let you know about some upcoming changes to Club Voyage.

As you’ll know, trading conditions worldwide have been challenging to say the least; we’ve felt their impact and I’m sure many of you have too. I’m pleased to confirm that after much deliberation, there will be no increase in membership fees for another year.

Whilst thinking about how best to move forward with Club Voyage, we’ve also taken the difficult decision to withdraw the Friends & Family rewards for new bookings from the 4th November 2024. Bookings made before this date will not be affected by this change.

I’m mindful this may be disappointing for some and in an effort to retain some goodwill, we’re offering your guests, friends or family (who have recently enjoyed the outgoing discount) the chance to join the Club at a much reduced rate, details below.

As ever, thank you for your support and for choosing Brittany Ferries; we look forward to welcoming you back on board soon.

With best wishes,

David Ellam
Head of Customer Support

Provided code this year by generous Funster. Used for ferry to Spain and return from France then later in year U.K. France return. If I joined would I recover membership fee in savings for 2 trips a year?

Not surprising . We will still be rejoining though. We have the old Spanish membership . One Spanish and one French crossing and it’s been more than covered.
Doubt we’ll be doing the Spanish crossing for a couple of years but not worth fiddling with the membership.

Probably not the first year but yes for subsequent years. How much you save depends now on when you go as the discounts are much less in summer. This doesn't apply to those on the legacy terms who joined when BF used sailing ships. :)

You can only know for sure by looking at the scheme and then applying it to trips made at the times of year you will be using.

My savings on the Santander and back via Bilbao with dog cabins both ways, out in February and return April was £225 off the total cost.

Don't think I will renew this year...Much prefer the tunnel.Just returned home on Pont Avon ..lovely ship BUT the new ships are rubbish and don't think Pont Avon will be in service much longer..over 20 years old now..Without Friends and family bonus cannot justify renewing..BUSBY.

I'm not surprised as from posts on here it seems that the availability of the benefit was misused and their U.K to Spain routes are heavily, often fully, booked anyway.

Were they mis-used on here? I guess it depends on your point of view.
It seems to me its a financial decision by BF, as opposed to to any suggestion of misuse, let face it they were probably getting bookings via F&F that they might not have obtained otherwise and now I'd guess there will be those who will not renew their Club Voyage membership and 'friends & Family' will not use BF for travel to Spain (or France, maybe)
Its not the first time that BF has 'down graded' Club Voyage benefits for financial gain to themselves.

I’m not sure how much money it actually saves us as the money we save on the crossing we then spend on a nicer cabin. This was well worth it on the new ship with the 2 night crossing to Spain. We really liked the Club lounge. Much better than the club lounge on Pont Aven which isn’t worth bothering with.

You don't need Club Lounge on Pont Aven because it's a much more comfortable ship than the new rubbish ships that they have bought from China..I only use Santander Plymouth because of the ship..Shan't renew now..Will stick with the Tunnel.
BUSBY..

It’s a shame they didn’t think of providing members with the facility to add friends and family to their profile to prevent the open-Facebook-sharing-types from abusing the system.
A few years back BF had a scheme whereby you could add a friend or family member as an associate member for a modest sum and they then got all the benefits of the full member, 30% off all crossings etc. Unfortunately the scheme was discontinued but BF did allow associates to join in their own right without paying joining fees so our friends took advantage of that and have remained members ever since.

Only booked one crossing next year and that’s the return trip on the Pont Aven which is Santander to Plymouth which has a Voyage Club saving of £132. To gain access to the £140 credit I have I will have to rejoin at a cost of £135 so in theory if I rejoin I will save £137.
Probably rejoin this November but maybe not next year.

This was foretold many times in the past when Funsters kept giving away their codes to
people who had registered on Fun, without paying for membership, just to get
a Funster to give them the discount code.

I recall someone on here seeing adverts on EBay for the discounts. I doubt
they'd be gen. Funsters but someone with no affiliation to us.

But that has nothing to do with the fact that the friends and family is being withdrawn and is not mentioned in the e mail

It's pretty obvious that it's a financial decision and that was my point in that they don't need to reduce fares as the ferries are already mostly fully booked (although I realise that some of those bookings will have been made with F&F discounts).

I think it has everything to do with the withdrawl of F and F.

It didn't take a rocket scientist at BF to note the adverts of codes for sale on EBay and other sites.
I appreciate that not everyone on Fun is a Saint but to give away the code to a first time poster who is
never to be seen again is naive.

I'm afraid only you can work that out based on the time of year you do the crossings.

Much the same as wild camping without consideration for others, abuse it and lose it.
Not at all

It's just part of a business model used by so many......you give away a product or service to build a customer base then slowly introduce costs or reduce the benefits.....SKY is a good example - free to start with then pay for movies, then sport then just about anything worth watching.....

As said BF are fully booked on popular routes and dates but is still a good alternative to driving......

I expect membership fees to also go up (not this year though)

Glad I have already made bookings for Next April-June. Might have to splash out on another return from Spain next October though.

Having endured the grindingly tedious Spain crossings, especially since the journey times increased, not to mention the very average catering, I won't miss it. For me, far preferable to drive down from Dieppe.
