Hi All
I’m wondering if anyone could give me some advise.
I’m looking at booking a Brittany Ferry from Portsmouth to Bilbao and returning St Malo to Portsmouth. Sept - Oct
I see they have a Club Vouarge at a cost £180 for the first year and you get a discount on sailings, cabins and food etc but the terms and conditions are very confusing and I don’t think it would work out economically as we don’t do this crossing regularly.
Can anyone give me any recommendations and if there are any discount codes available by booking through third parties etc.

Not worth it unless you do at least 2 round trips a year..discounts are very for most of the year

We do one return trip a year and it’s definitely worth it for us.

Total savings on our last trip was £290 so, even for someone joining (£180) for the first time that’s a worthwhile saving (£110) and would be £200 in subsequent years.

However, the level of discount varies with the time of year that you cross.

I don’t think the discount applies to cabins and the discount is only 10% for food
Generally the club voyage works out favourably after the first year
If you choose the CV option for Spain it gives you 30% off of ferry and slightly lees for French routes

The mantra;

"It depends when you travel" is paramount

The 'new' discount system percentage varies, dependant upon when one travels compared to the 'old, pre November 2021' discount system that had the same discount percentage regardless of the date.

And when you book relevant to departure date..... B.F. have their own method of pricing........ unfortunately they have the monopoly on all routes except Dover & Newhaven, so, they call the shots.

Further to my last post.....a lot depends on age / if still at work / enjoy driving distances .......... when we go to Spain, in the past we have done Pompey to Caen, arrive at 15-00, drive till 19-00, have an evening rest, next day down to Spanish border ( non toll roads ) night at Laroulette, following day down to Benidorm.
Since B.F. have been greedy, ( and we have the old Club Voyager ) we now drive to Newhaven, and drive down from Dieppe to Spanish border, still in 2 hits.
I do enjoy driving in France, have no limit on time, but, have a self imposed limit on wasting money.

Bella, regarding booking through third parties if you are a member of Boundless you can get a 5% discount code to use when you book with Brittany Ferries. The Camping and Caravanning Club used to also offer 5% off but I'm not sure they still do and I don't know about the Caravan & Motorhome Club.

Can I also add that if you go for a flexi-ticket, then book each leg separately. Because if you do not, once you have used the out leg, the return leg is no longer flexi!
Thank you we didn’t realise that and would have booked a return trip with flexi
