Just wondering where all my fellow Motorhome Fun members go for a combined breakdown cover for there private car in the U.K. and breakdown cover for Motorhome over 3500kgs for U.K.and European cover ?

Ford give us free breakdown cover provided our vehicle is serviced by them.
Our van is insured with Comfort which includes Europe wide breakdown.
We also have a work related trade policy but they predictably won’t cover motorhomes or motorbikes. So we have to battle our way through multiple insurers to cover three vehicles and two bikes every year, it should be easier, but it’s not.

Our bank account covers the cars, Motorhome is insured with Comfort £65 for full European cover.

Comfort £65, renewed yesterday.
ps be aware, although the renewal policy wording said glass covered by autoglass it's just changed to other providers, so go through their claims tel no. rather than just calling autoglass or you won't be covered.

Ours is covered by Comfort insurance/AA for UK and Europe.

When we took out the cover last year, we were advised by Comfort that although at 8.72m long and 5400kg we are larger than the specified AA cover, we need to call Comfort rather than the AA breakdown number and they will organise / coordinate assistance.

Fortunately our insurance here has to have recovery & mine is what is known as a VIP package ( no idea why?) which more or less mirrors everything that ADAC covers apart from the medical air transport home.

Nationwide flexplus account cover recovery in UK and Europe, come free with the premium bank account aswell as mobile phone cover and holiday insurance
  • Motorhomes – 8 metres in length or 7.5 tonnes in weight
I've used them in the past multiple time with the car and they are under written by britannia rescue breakdown. Have never waited longer than 90 minutes for assistance and thay have have been super helpful and polite.

In the UK I am covered by Green Flag and for Europe I go with Red Pennant, which I have had to use and found them to be first class

Nationwide Flex Plus
it costs £13 a month but travel insurance included as well as breakdown and when ever I check it still works out best

I'm currently in the market for new vehicle cover and personal travel insurance. On the face of it the Nationwide Flex Plus cover looks good particularly from the cost perspective.

Has anyone else in addition to RM_Marine had occasion to call upon it for any help at all?

I believe they are no longer provided cover by Britannia Rescue, I believe the current assistance providers are AA. Are they efficient, reliable and prompt ?

We use Nationwide. I believe the change from Brittania to AA is due ‘22
we haven’t had occasion to use Brittania. But when we were with ADAC we needed help - in this country. We were passed to their partner the AA. It was horrendously hopeless, coordinated from Lyon
it was that experience which prompted the change to Nationwide ( and I think AAs uselessness as a partner prompted the issues with accessing ADAC in this country)
my heart dropped when I heard of the change in the Nationwide partner. So far I haven’t changed bank accounts! The travel insurance seems good too

I did hear the same so I pulled the paperwork from there website and from my account and it still states britannia. On all the occasions I have called them its been a local garage that has come to assistand have been very very helpful

I would also give a plug for Nationwide
On the travel insurance side I had a claim early 2000 due to medical issue
While they wouldn't provide cover while I was on chemo or for one year after end of treatment they have know confirmed I am covered again at no extra charge
With covid etc I was not able to go anywhere anyways like most of us

In the uk it has been the AA for at least a couple of years
Not had a need to get them out for the van but have for a non starting car and they were fine
If you are outside a city its likely to be a local garage anyway

Nationwide travel insurance ok for eu but when we wanted Caribbean it was dearer than a stand alone policy because the want the annual rate rather than 2 weeks cover and excess at 70
