Morning all, 😎

I’ve recently bought a small inflatable boat which rolls up to a compact 1.2m x 60cm x 40cm. It weighs 39kg. I’m wanting to transport on the rear of the van (boxer L4H3, plenty of weight to spare on MAM and rear axle 👍). I need to be able to open both rear doors while the boat is attached…

It seems I’ve got 3 options - swinging tow-bar bike storage, bike rack attached to rear door or installing a rear door ladder and securing to that. At 39kg it’s very close to the weight limit of the rear bike rack…

Has anyone done anything like this before? Hit me up with your ideas please! Have a great weekend 👌🍻

Absolute beginners.
A Tow ball hitch[ mind full of the nose weight limit ] is probably going to be the most realistic location for a swing out rack, it's a lot of loading on door hinges otherwise.

I thought that too Mike, I just didn’t want to face the hefty cost. Would you think the ladder option is a definite no-no?

That's an expensive option, and one I wouldn't recommend.

Even though I have and use one.

Unless it is absolutely the only realistic option.

But if you really want one, go to the EU 'cos they are half the price.

Dunno if this is an option for you and a good price if you already have a towbar....

...maybe along with a tumble-mount....
