Thinking about putting a pair of these on my 2020 Peugeot Boxer motorhome
I thought I had read that the later Boxer/Ducato/Relay had this area strengthened by the makers and were not needed
Can anyone confirm either way please?
Cheers, Trev

If anyone has fitted these I would be interested to know how long the job took and if there were any tricky bits.

The product looks neat but seems quite expensive for what it is.

It is very expensive for a sheet of laser cut stainless steel. However a lot cheaper than repairing a punctured door and the insurance excess for all the bits stolen. Oh and the increased cost of insurance.

First one takes an hour as you work out how to fit it. Second 30 minutes

I would fit them to the new doors too, as e en if strengthened the thick thieves have no idea that they might be

I fitted mine about five years ago and from memory, it was about an hour a side.

How much is worth to not have your van not broken in to or have a hole punched into your door?

My MY20 (in the video posted above) would've been an easy break in without it. (and the van does have deadlocks too!). Glad I did it.

I saw on another thread (see screenshot below) that you would only need to fit Pro Plates to the doors with locks which, in the case of our 2015 Ducato PVC, is the driver and rear doors.
Have I understood that correctly please?
Many thanks,
Brian the Bemused ;-)

BrianS. I am very grateful for your post as it makes me aware that I only need to do the driver's door on my coachbuilt Autosleeper. So that halves the cost and makes fitting much quicker. Without your post I would have bought two of these plates!

The hab door, of course, would then be the weak point but that can be sorted.

Yes, those are the 2 doors we did.

Just one final question from me (I hope!), are the Pro Plate kits the same profile/fit for both the front door and the rear barn door on the Ducato?

Yes but I think the cab door one had to be fettled a bit more to make a good fit.

When you say fettled do you mean that the angle of the fold in it wasn't quite right. I read in one of the fitting reviews above that the angle of the fold was a bit wrong.

Maybe this is really the last question?
I found the Pro Plates a lot cheaper on eBay such that it would save me nearly £20 when buying two kits. Any reason not to go for them - presumably all from the same manufacturer?

PS Nice to see so many up already!

Yes the angle of the fold on the inner box a bit wrong. We already had damage to the cab door from a break in so we found these pro plates covered up the dint perfectly.
I cannot say if any others are the same or not.

Thank you. Did you have to drill the bottom two holes? The eBay listing for the more expensive plates says that no drilling is required.

The cheaper eBay ad doesn't mention whether drilling is required or not. The photo seems to show that it's not. The holes shown in

Riverbankannie's photo would have been obvious I am guessing as they are quite a way below the handle?

I've asked the question about drilling to the cheaper eBay seller so will update this thread when I get a response.

Yes we had to drill the bottom 2 holes. The lates come with 2 bottom studs. Suited us to have the extension of the plate below the handle both to allow the fitting of the protective box inside and to cove the existing damage.

It is how the protective box on the inside is held in place.
Nope, no drilling required on MY20 - it slots over existing bolts. No drilling required. See video if you want more details as it shows the bolts that pre exist. (earlier models may differ, mine 100% - no drilling)

I finally heard back from the eBay seller of the cheaper plates (link in post #15) and he has confirmed that no drilling is required. These plates also have the internal guard box so are looking like the best option to me.

Ignore that link - I wasn't concentrating and ended up buying two actual door handles! The third picture on the ad showed a Pro Plate fitted and off I went - not having a great week here :(

Please say you didn't buy! They are actual door handles :cautious:

I didn't buy them. The photos are of door handles but the listing description clearly states that you are buying 'pro plates'. This confused me so I contacted the seller who replied to say that the listing is for the steel plates, not door handles. This makes no sense to me!

Ignore my post above! I've got the two listings mixed up somehow,!

I am interested in fitting these to my Boxer, I notice that all pics and description are for fitting to the drivers door and a couple of mentions of the rear barn door. My question is are they also recommended for fitting to the front passenger door?
