Booking sites

What’s the etiquette when trying to book sites, if you telephone them and they don’t answer, is it fair to leave a message asking them to call you back, that costs them a call and you are waiting to see if you can get on site. I don’t like the idea of waiting maybe a day ( no good if your looking to pitch up same night). Do you call 2 or 3 sites and wait to see who calls back first?
in this day and age ( post Covid MoHo glut) can we expect to get in sites same day?
SHMO is still not keen about wild camping even though we could go a week without EHU.

I’d suggest you are more likely to catch a site afternoon during arrival times unless they are actually booking someone in they’d be around somewhere. But a small site won’t be sat by the phone. Most sites will be taking time mid morning to arrival time with any fettling so don’t expect a reply. Some sites may get last minute spots with cancellations but that is pot luck. I’ve only ever booked by catching someone on the phone or preferably email when I and they can communicate when it suits. Or of course for some sites their web booking.

Another option is look them up on Facebook there will be useful info there and reviews/comments and you can message them which will go straight to the smartphone where ever it is.

I messaged a site in Belgium and got an answer after 5 minutes. I got the info I was after (they are open) but the bloke answering me was in Italy

Sorry don’t do faceache but I can understand it’s uses, just don’t want every one wanting to be friends with me, especially Nigerian princes and ladies who want my body

We have kept the CL away from Facebook but we may have to revisit that choice if the folk on this forum do not book. Our normal nightly price is £15 and we have allowed Fun members a 15% discount on that with a code request. Even with 5 vans plenty of room here not like some of the cramped sites where you pay ££££££££.

Where did I get 15% discount from it was supposed to be 20% making it £12 a night for subscribed Fun members, sorry people.

with most sites, mornings the site managers are busy doing the cleaning and maintenance jobs. First arrivals at 12, so reasonable to try calling from 12:30 or after 2. If you ring during busy periods it could be a few hours till they hear your voicemail/message

interesting both CL sites a left messages with yesterday morning did not call back. Hence the post.

Why not list on Searchforsites? It’s my primary planning tool and I know used by many others.

Thanks for advice, yes we put our CL on Search for sites but not seeing any traffic from it yet. Perhaps we need some more reviews on there from folks who have already stayed here. Do you think they will take the hint?

Thank you for that comment it is really appreciated. Spent many weeks digging trenches during the day and working on the website in the evening. We have had so many nice comments from visitors to the site it has made it all worth it.
