Does anyone know of a motorhome overnight stop within walking distance of the site please

Personally I would just give it a miss.

I went years ago with my son but would not recommend it.

Yes we stayed at the cuckoo oak and walked it, about 20 minutes steady walk.
If you are booking in with Dave Newell for the day, his workshop is just over the road from the pub, so you can walk there whilst he is doing a job on your van.

We stayed at seven gorges campsite and used the bus stop just outside main entrance to the campsite.
We had the full pass forget it's name, check out the website.
As well as the Victorian town there are 1/2 doz other sites to visit. Again, check out their website.
Later in the year, we stayed at claveley druids wood ccc cs.
Was 10 miles from Blist hill and journey by van to it was easy, no congestuon, good parking.
Also on same trip visited Black Country Living museum, 10 miles in the other direction, minor congestion driving to it; and also good parking.
Both of them are worth a visit.

I think there is a pub stop, The Cuckoo Oak not far away.
Just ring first to make sure there still happy to allow overnight stays.
They certainly did 3/4 years ago. We weren't staying but just in for lunch having visited Blists whilst Dave Newall was replacing our cambelt +++.

Dave used to have complementary for Blists if you were getting significant work done.

The pub was dog friendly at that time as well.

EDIT: ooooops as CazPaul says!

We found Blists Hill to be a great visit when we went several years ago and are planning to revisit this year or next.

The info on suitable sites/parking places/buses is very useful, thank you.

We went years ago and thought it was great. I have often wondered if you could stop there.

I went twice (once on a free pass) and I have to say, the time when all the enacters were there to answer questions etc. made a world of difference! 👍

Was that when I was working there? 😂

Seriously though, it’s changed a lot over the years - many more exhibits and catering outlets.

I went to Blists Hill 22 years ago and enjoyed it. I had been to Beamish a few times before that and really enjoyed it, so last year took my wife to Beamish on the way back from Scotland. I was so looking forward to showing her a place I'd mentioned many times. What a disappointment! I may find Blists Hill the same now, maybe something to do with being less mobile!

The half moon inn at Jackfield on the other side of the river does overnight stops for motorhomes, huge car park.
You can walk along the Silkin Way to get to Blists Hill.
Coalport china museum and the Hay Inclined Plane is just across the river over the footbridge.

I’d noticed the Half Moon on a search ,looks like the stop for us ,would like the All Nations Inn but small car park so I doubt they allow stopovers.

Beamish is Our "local" as we live nearby.
It is on a much larger scale than Blist hill and is bigger than Black country living museum.
They are like marmite I guess and once you've had your fill you wouldn't want to go back for many a year.

We have a reason to go to Blist Hill but will probably fit in some of the other areas whilst there as we are history nuts.
As an aside is there any traffic free cycling nearby?

I think you can ride from the pub along the river to Bridgnorth, I did it a few years ago

There are a lot of traffic free cycling routes in Telford, I'm sure the LA website will have map to download

Is it gravel/tarmac? my wife rides a trike.
It's been a while since I used it. It's mainly paved, but condition varies. The first bit at Coalport is well paved, but after that it deteriorates somewhat. If she's on a trike, I would recommend starting at Coalport bridge and not before, as the approach to the bridge from the Ironbridge side is a bit awkward even for a solo.

When we visited Blists Hill a few years back, I said to the guy in the print room that I'd seen that type of Eagle Press a few years ago, he said "I very much doubt it, the only other working one I know of is in the Cook Islands" and that's where we saw it in a museum at Avarua where we had an old fashioned "wanted" poster made up for Val's Inspector when she was still serving.
Me and my young son went on the fairground swing boats at BH and I got a shock at how scary they were once you got a good rhythm going !

There’s one in the M Shed museum in Bristol. You can only see it if you do the behind-the-scenes tour. The guide was amazed that I knew it was a Columbian Press.

Those swing boats are awesome 😂
