It's fine if we just want the blind open by itself, but if we attach the fly screen it pulls the blind about a quarter of the way across. No idea how these work. Is it easy to adjust the spring mechanism, which seems to be too strong?

It's a skylight. No screws visible. Presumably hidden behind covers. I'll post some pix, but I don't think it will help you much.Any chance of a photo or two? They can often be fixed if you take the time. Where are screws fitted attaching blind to the wall?

The sort of thing that normally snaps off in my hand.I think that you will find that if you get your hands, one on each side of the cream coloured surround and give it a tug it will come free. They are held in place by studs fixed to the inside roof and can be put back just as easily. Once down you will be able to get to the innards of the blind to see what's what.
