Better options for shower hose

We have the tap/shower combined unit in the shower, but the metal of the shower hose has damaged the plastic tap body through wear and tear. I think the design is pretty poor as there is a lot of hose to drag out to use the shower. Anyone have options for an alternative flexible hose that is not metal but remains flexible in colder weather.

Alternatively a tap with a shower diverter and conventional sink tap so the shower can be left in situ.

You can get hoses that are braided steel and covered in clear plastic.

Normally fitted to higher end fittings used in domestic bathrooms.

Yes we also had issues with the pull out of tap shower hose in that the water would run down hose and into cupboard below.
Our solution was to plumb in a separate shower controller and permanent fitted shower head.....
Much more user friendly and functional and sink/shower tap stays in the sink.
