Hi all need to underseal my van this year anyone recomend an underseal for wood on my 04 swift as its perfect and been done every year and i haven't done it since owning it 1 and a bit years, thankyou matt

Could you not contact the previous owner, maybe from the V5C or via the dealer, if it came from a dealer. It obviously works what’s previously been used.

I could do good idea, but thought someone may have used a good product.

Is it black what's on already probably waxoil, or normal car underseal.

Waxoil on the wood. Though it shouldnt need doing every year. I reckon they just sprayed the whole lot ever year inc chassis rather than use two different products. Nice to hear someone going to those lengths to look after the bits you cant see

its not wax oil looks as though its been sprayed on or painted on!

My MH has a black wooden floor , it has to be painted every year to keep its warranty , it’s done with a special tin of spray from the factory, they record the serial number from the tin in the maintenance book , I also would like to know exactly what it is , after warranty the is out I would like to keep treating it BUT with a much cheaper version

I've never deliberately painted the wooden floor of Augusta08 although parts must have been caught by the Dinitrol wax I've used on the chassis. The problem is that the wood is laminated and I'm never sure that any deep penetration fluid might affect the glues holding the laminate together. Wax might retain humidity, so I've opted to do nothing.

That said the Augusta is now 12 years old and shows no sign of problems. I'd be cautious of doing anything that might cause either of the two above mentioned potential problems.

A lot depends upon storage I guess, Augusta lives in Spain over winter and is indoors when not in use otherwise. If you're parked in a muddy field for weeks on end maybe I'd paint with a matt (breathable) paint ???

HTH

I’m sure it’s a breathable coating on mine , just looks like black Matt paint

My guess would be black waxoyl??
I believe the old type of underseal traps water in causing more problems-------gleaned from many years as old land rover owner!!!!!!!

Waxoyl or waxoil ... lol doesnt matter how you spell it, just ask for it. Allows the wood to dry and doesnt seal in any moisture. Thats when the trouble starts, if any moisture gets trapped. Do it after a dry spell when its not been driven for while

Waxoyl is how the brand spell it !!!! LOL but there are other makes that I believe are as good , Morris lubricants make a really good one I can't remember what theirs is called!!! But I have been very pleased with the way it goes on and the long term results.
An application of waxoyl (or whatever!!!) Will last for years if put on when the vehicle is dry and clean IMHO not necessary more than every 5 years or so!!!!
