After some advice on what sealant I should use for external joints
The stuff used by manufacturer seems rubbish it cracks and discoloured in just a few months so thought I May replace it but not sure what is used or what I should use it mainly wher th panels join or around the door step etc

I used Sikaflex 522 recently to re-stick/seal one of the front lower skirts on our Bailey which had come loose and it appears really good. Has certainly stuck well that's for sure!

Sikaflex products normaly specify the use of an activator. Read data sheet before use.

Maybe they realised that, so with the 522 product made it very clear what it's for by saying on the package "adhesive sealant for motorhomes"?

generally motorhome manufacturers use carafax or similar non setting mastic sealant. Replacing with urethane sealants such as sikaflex or puraflex leaves a far more permanent seal

We mentioned this before, it just seems to wash away !

So, I just had to re-seal. Used Carafax (may be okay for caravans ) in the past. But just used some Sika FBT over the top as a temp measure

I think enough comments have come through showing that it’s both.

Indeed, but that hasn’t been in doubt. If you’re looking for a mastic/sealant for joints (as the OP was) then an adhesive isn’t the right product.

If you’re looking to stick something then it’s a suitable product but if you want to ‘unstick’ something then you’re creating a problem for yourself by using an adhesive.
