Elddis Autostatus
Hello Adventures! We need to seal the roof of an Elddis autostratus. From some research online it seems that Acrypol and Cromapol are the top products in UK, however they look pretty thick and we are worried it will not look as smooth as we would like to be. We have seen also Liquid Rubber RV Roof Coating which seems a bit more smooth finish. For the seems Ethernabond is the choice. What's your experience? What type of coating do you apply or have applied?

Not sure what you mean by seal the roof. Normally a good clean followed by a decent wax polish should be sufficient

I mean that there are some minor cracks in the fibreglass and from youtube it seems we need to repaint the roof with some sort of roof sealant. Would was polish be good enough for waterproofing the roof?

It would be better to re Gel Coat it but that would be a very expensive job, it depends how much money you want to throw at it.

I've not used it but Cromapol is also available as a smooth finish in white and grey

Ive used chromapol on a flat roof with grate sucess. A white version on a motorhome would do the job . Visualy it has small strands of glass strands. On a roof its fine if it s not obvious

Depends on the cracks. If they are surface crazing then probably just needs the gel coat repairing. If it it proper cracks then it needs really looking at.

Careful with aquapol as it has a habit of coming back to life in the heat
And it smells its OK high on a house but would not put it anywhere near a van
