Best motorhome route through Paris

Just in process of booking March trip via eurotunnel and planning a route to Spain via Toulouse, used the N184 western route on outskirts of Paris before with no issues but we were in a T6 not a motorhome. Cant remember any height restrictions but it was during the night before and it will be again and have been bed since.
Prefer if we can avoid Paris via Rouen and seems to add an hour which could easily be added with traffic in Paris (on Michelin maps when only 50 miles further !) also tolls via Paris seem so much less assuming we can get in as a class 2 (uplated to 3750kg) @ less than 2800mm.
Have already got a crit air but no angles morts but will carry some just in case, and wont start the discussion on carrying a spare !!!

Watch out for the clean air zones ..Euro6 Egine, Crit Air
2 is O.K.
Older diesels are completely banned in some Paris zones.

Here's a link , it is not very complicated.. but note - Crit Air stickers and Angled Mort are an absolute must in Paris especially, with UK stickers you're seen as easy payday.

yes them, reminds me of when I worked in France years ago and went under one of those 1.8m underpasses in an astravan with ladders !!

We ended up in a very dodgy area of Paris once by mistake it felt very uncomfortable. I'd give it a wide berth!
place pigalle is not the best and dont stop or you get approached Lol

Ive been East and West around Paris in the last twelve months. My preference is N104 around the East side. Easy enough to navigate and nothing to be concerned about on either size or weight front... For reference, we are 7.3T and nearly 9.35m long...

good shout, so via A1 into Paris and follow N104 as will be travelling in darkness.

Yes that’s it, it’s kind of like an outer ring road. There are quite a few slips you need to take to stay on the N104, but it’s pretty well signed as it’s a key lorry route around the outskirts of Paris. It’s like a poor imitation of the M25…

Driving through I was always told just follow the Bordeaux signs which jI’ve done several times without any problems

I'd second that, I've used the A1 to the airport (CDG) then off by Ikea when taking coach trips to Disney. Then continue on 104 clockwise to A10 then off towards Chartres. If you miss the turn by Ikea and carry on A1 towards Paris you get to some very dodgy neighbourhoods such as Saint-Denis, I've worked there but would definitely not go back through choice!

For sanity sake keep outside the peripherique!
Rush hour seems to be 20 hours long except for a few very early hours.avoid holiday start and finish times( winter included) Also the drivers coming on and off are stupid aggressive and completely barging in and out at speed, small cars motorbikes scooters etc. just look how many are dented scraped etc. to be fair we’ve mostly done it to the east from Calais in a 9 m twin axle over 3 m high MH and height barriers /low tunnels are a danger!
went this way due to relatives living in Paris, stayed on a safe site outside near Euro Disney and trained in. Quick and simple!
Done it many times to the west. So it’s far better to cross from Portsmouth Southampton Weymouth etc around there and the route although more expensive and slower is so much more sedate which is what motorhoming is about. Paris ne conduit pas pour moi

We ended up on the pherpherique A86by accident once mid morning on a workday, we also had a leaking fuel filter, having heard all the stories of being a busy route was expecting the worse, it was no where as busy as expected, I live in Dorset, getting to work in the rush hour across Bournemouth was far worse. Fuel filter was fixed when we got off on to the A6 at services, we always carry a spare as it’s happened to us before, easy swop.

Much depends on your UK start point and your Spanish destination. I'm no lover of either the periphique (done with a caravan) or the Francillienne (solo car). Newhaven Dieppe will knock around 100 miles off the journey and misses Paris. Relatively easy to skirt to the west of Rouen. I don't do tolls these days if I can avoid it.

Always use eurotunnel, especially as we have a large dog so much easier. Try not to do ferries for that reason. We have used our truck nav in the last 3 or 4 trips around Paris. Heading towards Toulouse via Foix for a stop, then Puymorens to the costas and wing it from there.

We use to travel through Paris with our car but no more, its very busy all the time even when travelling overnight and wouldn't travel with the Motorhome.

Why have you got to go to Paris, this would be our route.

Thanks but does seem an awful long route, but will check it out. As said previously last 4 years gone in our transporter direct route with foot planted. Going more sedately this time and hopefully won't have French post when I get back.

Haven’t done the tunnel for a while. Memories of Paris are not good ! Although really enjoyed Meaux on outskirts when we did Disney. So long ago ! I would do Rouen, much more doable. Tbh we do the ferry from Portsmouth to Caen now . Have fun. 🥹🤣

The only time we have ever gone anywhere near Paris, was for the Boss's surprise birthday visit to Disney World, on the way back from Spain.

I too can't see any reason to be anywhere near Paris, unless of course if you actually want to visit it and even then you would be better parking well away and getting a train in.

Even more reason not too, looks like Rouen route it is. With our trips time is sometimes limited due to both working full time hence whilst we normally drive through the night, has some benefits though.

I have many mostly fun memories of driving in and around Paris - but a 40foot coach is much easier,.....!
But unless you actually WANT to visit Paris I'd keep well clear. We always route Rouen, Chartres, Poitiers following N10 to Bordeaux. Then if you really want to go to Toulouse just hang a left but we tend to go via coastal route to stay clear of Pyrenees and possible weather problems. Easy to avoid toll roads too if you want.
