Can anyone suggest the best heavy vehicle route finder please as google seems to be under the impression we enjoy single lane 1 in 4 hills. Thanks in anticipation 😊

We use a Garmin camper sat nav. I know there are those who use apps on their phones so they will be along soon.

A proper SatNav
One designed for motorhomes or lorries.

The Avtex Tourer Three/Garmin 795 is one of the better ones.

Have tried Co-Pilot and Sygic Truck and wasn’t to impressed with either considering you can input vehicle size 🤔🤔 I then just had Apple Maps and Google maps running and kept an eye on road signs. Did a few 3k trips without any problems.

there are lots of truckers who video their journeys and publish on youtube. Im pretty sure they video from inside their cabs and you will be able to see what gizmos are attached to their windscreens / dashboards. A quick survey of a few should give you a indication of which brands of satnav are popular / reliable.

An example is "Luke C in a HGV" who uses a TomTom system. He tramps around the UK and mentions that he does use Google Street View to check out the approach to new destinations.

We are 14.5 tons 4m high & 12m long. Have used a Snooper Sat nav for the last 15 years as the main source in the UK & across Europe.
Has lifetime maps which I update every 6 months.
I also have the Sygic on my phone “just in case” & carry a “Truckers A-Z as the back up for the back up.

Garmin Dezl , in trucks , and 12 mtr RV in UK and Europe, to good effect . Caveat there is no navigation system that will take into account narrow roads unless they have a mandated width limit . Weight and height clearance limits are very reliable , length is again like width only where posted restrictions are located . HTSH
ps if there are bus stops on route you are usually OK :)

Many thanks to all of you taking the trouble to post certainly a lot of info to process but hopefully will result in less strain on our marriage as when a seemingly insurmountable problem looms we take it in turn to blame each other for lack of research 😂
