Hi Folks,

Thinking of a trip to Ireland in August/September (couple of weeks) and find that P&O from Liverpool won't accept pets (one dog). We live in Chester, so Liverpool was a handy departure point. Only other one we can find that will accept pets is from Holyhead. Just wondering if anyone has any thoughts/experience on this? Ta! Mick, Lisa and Ned (the dog)

Stena Line Dublin/Holyhead now has a limited number of pet friendly cabins available.
We used them a few months ago.

Depending on what part of Ireland you are going to, the other option is to drive up to Cairnryan.
It is a good option if you have a dog as it is a short crossing.
Stena have recently opened a pet lounge on this route, so your dog will no longer have to remain in the vehicle.
Note - pet lounge must be booked in advance.

If you enter through N.I. i.e. Belfast from, say, Cairnryan you (currently, it may change in the future) won't need to worry about EU import regulations. Both Stena and P&O operate this route. Onward into Eire it's "open borders" so no checks.

Bit of a pain though if you live in Chester. Cairnryan is the closest for us as we are in N.E. England.

Another bonus of the Cairnryan to Larne or Belfast crossing is no AHC needed 😃
And you can nip across the border to get an EU pp

Hi we use Irish ferries a fair bit Holyhead to Dublin dogs are ok can leave them in the car
The fast cat Dublin swift does the crossing in just over 2 hrs hope that helps 😊

Thanks for the suggestions, folks. On balance, we’ll go with Holyhead.
