Hi
Currently in France and returning to the UK next week, can anyone who's just returned from Europe, recommend the name of a decent day 2 test provider

We used testing for all, who were excellent and appear to be not-for-profit. But surely you no longer need a day 2 PCR test,( unless you’re just back to France from a red list country?)
Don’t you just need a LFT before return?

I would not use Expert Medicals again. They did not send the test kit which was due to arrive in September and will not answer my emails.
Trust Pilot rating is 81% Bad out of 2207 reviews.

Dante Labs kit arrived as promised. Test done promptly and return of kits confirmed then email and text to confirm negative result.

Contrary to the post above, I have used Expert medicals 4 times (if you count mine and my wife's as two orders as you have to create seperate orders) with no problems at all. First time early September and again last week. I have the second lot here to use today.
Both times email confirmation with the essential locator form arrived immediately. Both times £29.99. Maybe I am lucky?

Looked on Gov website at providers, Boots was on there at around £20 looked further on Boots site and prices shown where over £60, very confusing, mind you I'd had a couple of glasses by then

Have a look today now the alcohol has worn off (y)

If you scroll right down the Boots page the £21 test is down there.. Ignore the "check our range" link.

Getting on holiday was easy, getting back, not so easy!!! Where booked on return ticket (Eurotunnel) 31st this month, but was looking to go back a couple of days earlier and drop into a couple of places to get jobs done on the van (if I can get booked in) while still down the south of England.
Normally, we would just turn up at Eurotunnel, pay the cost difference, if any, get the next available train and travel wherever in the UK, before actually going home. However, now, with passenger locator forms and tests to book, I think where scuppered.

Just realised you are now not looking for a PCR test so ignore my expert medical post earlier

we came back last night. Booked simply test at £12 each. Ordered Friday at 11am they were through our letterbox when we arrived home. I haven’t opened them yet though! But so far good service but they are not on gov list (but that is t a requirement!)

I also used Expert Medicals, the test arrived 2 days earlier than was told. we did the tests last Friday 22nd and got both results yesterday afternoon. All for £28 each.
I can't see that the lateral flow tests can be much cheaper if you use premium BT services as EM did.

Expert medicals were shocking, lost ours, and after waiting for hours on the phone got through to what sounded like and elderly Asian woman on a bad line working from her bedroom! After 2 weeks offered to send another! What use is that? Requested a refund but no reply, they served a purpose I had a number to put on the form, but really what is the point?

It is still pretty easy.

If you create a Passenger locator form account you can create a draft PLF and just change the dates to suit once you know the day you actually wish to travel, also you do not need to wait until you arrive at Eurotunnel you can upto about 1hr beforehand make adjustments online to the booking.

Great, will look into it, do you know, can you book a day 2 test a pharmacy for anywhere, if yes, it would enable us to still get some work done on the van, before we actually go home, at Roadpro and Oystertech, if they can fit us in.

I appreciate this is controversial but many people - me included, haven’t bothered actually doing the day 2 test. Yes we ‘purchased’ it as needed the code for the the locator form but never bothered. We selected the cheapest which was a drive through facility in Warrington @£20 per person.

I think there is a list of test sites on the gov.uk website but we only had ours sent to a home address.

We might have done similar but understand there is now a requirement for send a photo in of the test or a possible £1000 fine but not sure if or how they will enforce that.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND EXPERT MEDICALS !!

We bought 3x PCR Day-2 kits in September. They arrived promptly, before we returned home, but after posting off the completed tests, we only got results for one of them!

Similar experience to us. They can't cope with counting the money they are raking in and doing the tests.

Me again, same subject (day 2 tests), we are traveling back to the UK Sunday morning, I know we have to fill in the passenger locator forms (no more than 48hrs) prior to travel, but what about the day 2 test kits, decided to do the self test kits at home option, can I order these now, even though there's 5 more days prior to us entering the UK

You can order them any time you want, as long as it’s more than 48hrs before so you have the serial numbers

Hi
Been looking and couldn't see why I couldn't order them now. However, just needed a bit of reassurance, didn't want to mess up the travel arrangements, thankyou for quick reply

We went with C19 testing, who we have used before. £25 each test. Delivered 2 days after order and ready for our return, keeping us informed all the time.

We arrived home today, and kits were waiting as promised.

I know 'someone' who bought one set of tests and then used the same code for three different trips back from France on three different Passenger locator forms ..... he did however do several lateral flow NHS tests each time he returned to the UK, and also undertook a particularly invasive nasal and throat swap CV19 test at the French chemist each time before he left France.

I think he strongly disagrees with the rip-off cost approach to testing.
