I’m a newbie
Hi Ladies & Gents,

I am in the process of buying my first motorhome and seem to be settled on a Bessacarr E765 not a new one but around an 06 plate.

I would appreciate any advice from any of you knowledgeable MH owners of which there are many.

Thanks in advance,

Tony

Check it, or get it checked for damp inside. Then check the chassis for rot. Anything else is relatively easy to tix 👍😏

Swift built Motorhomes built between 2005/07 sometimes had a problem with the floor getting damp , and not drying out , although most were sorted out under warranty double check the underneath of the floor for possible rot. (the wrong type of underside covering was used for the flooring )

Do you have a vehicle in mind to go and look at or have have you decided this is the make and model you like ? The layout of the E765 is front opposite facing sofas and a fixed french bed . You could miss out on other good vehicles if you limit your search too much to single vehicle. Concentrating on the layout and payload are more important.

Hi Swifter,

I don’t have one to look at but it is one that I like the look of, Im open to any advice on other similar MH in say the 25K bracket which I know isn’t a great deal of money for one these days but I don’t want to spend my hard earned on a pile of rubbish so looking for some sound advice.

We had both a 2003 Bessacar 765P and a 2008 one. The 2003 needs checking for a damp floor under the cooker and under the French bed where the water pump is. At 2006 it needs check for corrosion under the radiator this crossmember suffers from corrosion and quite. Often has been a mot fail, top and bottom front suspension mounts, corrosion at front outriggers and around the front inner wheel arch. This is normal on that age van and not just motorhomes. Handbrake cables can seize and make the mot a pain. And some suffered from ingress of moisture around the hatch that lets access to under the French bed.

You are asking questions before the purchase so that’s good .
Are you sure a fixed bed is the correct set up for you , it’s nice to have a bed made up permanently but some view this as wasted space in the daytime . Also will you use the overcab bed ?
Will you ever want to carry passengers? This setup doesn’t have any rear seatbelts . These are all considerations .

Used to own one. Great layout, lots of space, check under the rear bed for damp around the locker.
