Hi Funsters
Looking at buying a MoHo soon been looking at Chausson, Bailey, and Swift, island bed models cause that’s SWMBO likes, then saw a Benimar Mileo 294 and just wondered what they are like as don’t see to many on the road
Thanks

Brilliant
We have Benimar 486
Drop down bed, stops at any level so no need for ladder if not required.
Ticks all boxes, proper door handles, separate shower, large lounge, free standing table ( not fixed and in the way like others)
No electric step needed as built in. Great kitchen work space, large garage, 170HP, excellent drive, spacious wardrobes, good graphics 👍

I am pretty sure they are part of the large Triango, if that’s spelt correctly, group and the PVC at least is made by Auto Trail here at Immingham.

Had a 292 for 2 years. Good van but heavy so watch weight, but that goes for most vans these days. If new or under warranty you need to deal with Marquis 😱

I have a 294 and have had it from new for 6 years . They are a very good motorhome , it’s been used hard over the six years I have owned it . The shower tray has cracked twice and an air bag module just recently failed but other than that it’s been fairly fault free.

We have had our T483 LHD(Spanish registered) for a couple of months now after a 12month wait.
After 3500 miles nothing has fallen off and everything works as it should.
It is very comfortable, quiet and a doddle to drive as a 170hp Auto(Ford)
Early day's but so far so good.
Compared to the previous Swift it is certainly a step up and that wasn't a bad van.
Benimar is part of the Trigano group.

We hae only recently changed from a Bailey 740 to a Benimar Mileo 286 ( same as Bailey 15 but on a fiat base 2.3 9spd auto and 4400 mam) Initial thoughts are that build quality is good and materials used are better than previous vans we have had. Benimar claim 99percent wood free construction so damp should not be a problem. I agree with Bailey 15 the wardrobes are cold. (but we dont sit in them :giggle:) The layout suits us using at as a 2 berth although it has 4 belted seats. Large lounge and kitchen area in a van that is 6.99 m long. This is possible by using an electric drop down bed over the lounge.
The reason we changed was that all of the storage on the bailey was under the seats or bed at a low level and being of a certain age it was becoming a chore to crawl around on the floor store or retreive stuff. The Beninamr storage is all accessible standing up.
As regards the 9spd auto Fiat it is a dream to drive.

We have a Benimar, If it wasn't for a post on the Benimar FB we would never have known about a certain damp issue we were alerted to. Sure enough ours turned out to be damp. It took a few attempts to fix but all been sorted under warranty and we now enjoy the van.

Great spec for the money.

We’ve also got a 286 (2016 model) and love it - fantastic van for the 2 of us. The lounge and kitchen areas are huge for the size of the van and the garage is easily big enough for 2 bikes, outdoor chairs etc. And very well equipped as standard. The only significant issue we’ve had has been the electric drop down bed, which developed a mind of its own on a few occasions. There’s loads of info on the web on how to reset, re-programme etc., but the manual override is really difficult and resulted in a a lot of skinned knuckles. In the end we decided to rewire, bypass the electronics completely and install a simple rocker switch - up and down. The only thing we've lost is the preset level, but that’s no issue at all, I just hold the rocker switch until it’s at the level we want.

thanks for the info, this one is plated 3650kg
I can't see that working with an island bed, you need the heavy 4250kg chassis.
No point in getting a van with naff all payload it makes it a bind to use.
Do remember any factory fitted and dealer extras plus any you fit reduces payload.
Payload in the broacher is always given on an absolutely basic van.

Have a VERY good look in the corner here where hab meets cab. I would never have noticed it only for the heads up on FB and it

Benimar must have listened to you our 2021 286 has a simple rocker switch as standard.

Just another thought and something too be aware of
Our bed in 486 has no cut off, it is full size large drop down bed, other models cut off at corner and do make a difference.
Ours is 6.99.
Baileys are lovely but wider, I’m more comfortable when driving this one 👍

Made in Spain at Benicarlo, when staying at Camping Alegria del Mar last year had the chance to visit the factory. Very impressed especially with the amounts of sealer/adhesive used. The attention to detail by their quality control department impressed us. Very good value for money. Sorry to say it but felt it was better finished than many UK built M/H's
