Hi all, very new to all this, what bedding do you go for? Bags, duvet?

Sleeping bags with a good liner, comfy, fast and compact. Duvets, top and bottom sheets etc are too bulky I think.

I slept on one duvet ( the cover acted as a sheet and also softened the mattress which was a bit over-firm for me) with another over me. Fixed bed so they just stayed there during the day.

Plus one for the sheets and duvet of varying TOG rating, but we have a permanently made bed. Mind you I would still use a duvet even if we had to build the bed every night. SHMBO sleeps like a REALLY BAD CAR ACCIDENT! So a sleeping bag would be like being involved in the crash!

Cheers!

Duvet for us. Light in summer, medium in late autumn winter. Sometimes a sheet if we have too much vino collapso, is there such a thing?
Phil
Same for us, less the vino as we don't drink it ;)

Although we're switching from a double duvet to 2 singles as Mark has a bad habit of tucking the duvet under his arm and then turning over and I go from warm and snuggly to cold and draughty very quickly!

4.5tog dovets over and under with a lightweight fleece and /or wool blanket. Easier to store lightweight items and the fleece / blankets make outdoor chairs more comfortable on cool evenings.

Welcome to the Fun.
Sheets and duvet are much less confining, but we have a fixed bed and don't need to make it up every night. Even when tugging and sleeping on 'make-up' beds, we moved from sleeping bags to duvets and never looked back. We only have one (medium) tog rating (down-filled) duvet and find that to be sufficient in all weathers (background heating on in Winter). Down is very light and can be compacted into a small space if needed. If making-up each night, I might consider Duvalet because you can throw it on very quickly and laying the bottom sheet can be a faff, but I have no experience of sleeping in one of these.

Large Ancient Mummy Style 4 season sleeping bag.
You can unzip it in the warmer months.
Great in the winter.
The van temperature drops a lot after bedtime in winter.

King bed (not fixed). Double sleeping bag, unzipped as an underlayer, and also an overlayer for one of us. Brushed cotton/flannel sheets over and under for the other of us, with an added afghan if it's on the cold side. All very strategic! I have considered using Duvalays instead. We may change up when we change vans to a fixed bed model.

Mattress topper to hide the bumps. Double sleeping bag opened up to act as bottom sheet. Duvet on top.
We carry a thin and thick sleeping bag and two different weight duvets depending on the season.
Being fairly tall I sometimes find my feet stick out so we keep the second sleeping bag by the side of the bed if if my feet get cold. The heater at the bottom of the bed even when it’s turned off stays warm for a while.

:welco:
Duck down duvets for us 4.5 tog in summer, 9 tog in winter, we have twin singles I made fitted sheets for them.
Home from home so want to be as comfortable as at home.

 just spent a small fortune on new bedding for the new van, temperature regulating "outlast" mattress protector and fitted sheet made to our sizes as its over 2.1 metres long, Hungarian goose down 4.5 tog + 9 tog duvet and 520 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets and pillow cases.

All ikea stuff, duvets and nice covers, all the same ones that we can swap around (3 singles and 1 double) and loads of pillows.......

Mattress protector, fitted cotton sheet, duvet (winter and summer weight) four pillows. Sometimes, in summer, we remove the duvet and just have a duvet cover or sheet on top.
No matter how carefully hubby makes the bed ( It’s a blue job because I find making the bed by kneeling on it very painful with my dodgy knees) it never looks particularly neat and tidy. It’s hard to do a hospital corner on a fixed French bed.

Spring, 4.5 tog Duvet and fitted cotton sheet
Summer, linen sheet and fitted cotton sheet, aircon set to about 20
Autumn, same as spring, but check the weather
Winter, 10 tog, fitted cotton sheet, heating on, aircon sucking humidity out

We've found that it isn't what you have on top. If you have fixed beds, get the best custom cut memory foam mattress you can buy. I certainly recommend Bodymould Airflow, or their 3 layer Supreme with a Coolmax cover (I'm not on commission - just what we use!). Ridiculously expensive, but we sleep better in the bus than we do at home.

Drop down over-cab bed.
Top & bottom sheets, 7.5 duvet all year with extra warmth (in cold weather) from a fleece blanket, when it’s hot throw duvet off!

MikeD,

Hi, we are buying an Ih and are thinking of Duvalays but they look quite bulky.
Where do you store them during the day?
Many thanks

Pam

We just grab whatever is on the bed at home and stow it in the van and we're off...........simples.......

Fitted sheets and duvets. I can’t stand sleeping bags.
