Beautiful Days Festival

Not this year sadly, but certainly a fabulous event for all age groups
The organisors, The Levellers have been brilliant over the past 15 years in managing the prices and ensuring profits go to good causes.
I hope you have a few jars down the hill at the Bimble Inn(y)(y)

Just been looking at the info for that festival. For camping weekend they will sell you a campervan pass, but do not allow caravans. Presumably then a Motorhome is classed as a campervan ?

It's a music festival just like every other music festival. "Campervan" covers motorhomes, panel vans with a mattress chucked in the back, anything else you can think of and probably a few things that would never occur to you. They all have different rules about what's allowed and what isn't.

It isn't a campsite by any description though, you're parked in a field.

Just never heard of a Festival allowing Motorhomes but not caravans !!!

Actually, thinking about it, how can a Festival organised by THE LEVELLERS justify banning caravans ???

I've never heard of a music festival that does allow caravans in the campervan fields.

At every one I've ever been to or looked into caravans are always expressly not permitted.

I wonder why??

Perhaps they don’t want five tonnes of scrap and shiiiit left afterwards! Lol

We must be going to different types of festivals to you. Glastonbudget, Upton Blues, Cambridge Rock, Corbridge Real Ale and Music, Sywell and many more. Always Caravans, Campervans and Motorhomes mixed up together, with people putting tents up next to their vehicles, apart from main camping areas.

Smaller ones and local ones then. Major festivals are different.

Usually cars aren't permitted in the campervan fields under any circumstances which I guess is why they say no caravans. If they allow caravans they have to allow cars so two spaces are taken up. The space in those fields tends to be at a premium anyway without letting people waste it like that.

Some are more strict than others about whether tents are permitted the campervan fields and even about what constitutes a campervan. Some won't permit anything that's not a proper conversion - a mattress in the back of a transit won't cut it. From memory the usually definition of proper conversion is it must have a real bed and either a means of cooking or showering permanently installed.

By the way there's absolutely no difference between a campervan and a motorhome except in the minds of people who buy them. To everyone else they are exactly the same thing. Go and try and book Eurotunnel for a motorhome and you'll see what I mean.

Glastonbury, Reading, Bestival and Boomtown Fair also allow caravans and campervans to park together.
Even a smaller festivals like Camp Bestival now allow caravans, when they first stated they were not permitted as the site licence didn’t allow for them.

The wife is going to Beautifuldays with a girlfriend for the first time so it would be useful to know a litte bit more about facilities. Particularly :-

1. What facilties are there for grey and black disposal?
2. How level are the camping fields - falling out of bed is to avoided?
3. Should the weather turn really bad, do the organisers provide any assistance by way of towing out bogged down vehicles/

Can any more seasoned festival goers shed any light?

There is black disposal, tip your cassette into a IBC plastic tank next to portaloos. Grey water drop onto the field.
Level fields so no slopes to worry about.
Tractors to pull you out if wet like last year.
Lovely festival our 6th year running. The weather looks to be fine so that will be a first.

Thanks for the info. St. Piran- very reassuring. And, Lenny HB, no problem - we've already got the tickets.
