To remove European beam deflectors (also called headlight beam adaptors), turn on your headlights to full beam for a few minutes to heat up the adhesive, then carefully peel back the deflector using a plastic card or similar tool, taking care to lift the adhesive layer as you go; clean any remaining residue with an alcohol-based cleaner like methylated spirits, avoiding harsh chemicals that could damage the headlight lens.

Key points to remember:
  • Heat is key: Always warm up the adhesive by turning on your headlights before attempting to remove the deflectors.

  • Use a plastic tool: Avoid using metal tools that could scratch your headlight lens.

  • Clean with alcohol: Use an alcohol-based cleaner to remove any leftover adhesive.

  • Do not use harsh chemicals: Avoid using white spirit, petrol, or nail polish remover as they can damage the headlight plastic.

Detailed steps:
  1. Turn on headlights: Switch on your headlights to full beam and let them run for a few minutes to heat up the adhesive.

  2. Locate the edge: Find the edge of the beam deflector on your headlight.

  3. Insert a plastic tool: Carefully insert a plastic card or similar tool under the edge of the deflector to start peeling it away.

  4. Peel slowly: Gradually peel back the deflector, lifting the adhesive layer as you go.

  5. Clean residue: Once the deflector is removed, use a clean cloth dampened with an alcohol-based cleaner to remove any remaining adhesive residue.
