Lots now
Arrived at our official overnight parking spot which is bay 1 on Beadnell car park in the northeast organised by Northumberland council.
You basically can pre book a spot by paying online to park up from 6pm till 8am for £12.
We got here and there's an older couple in a vw transporter pop top all set up for the night who weren't very happy that I asked them to move as this is my spot I have paid for. He mentioned he has parkinsons and asked me to park somewhere else, but unfortunately if the attendant came around I would be ticketed.
They are slowly decamping (20 minutes later) so I can manoeuvre into position.
I was very polite and I'm been very patient.
AITA.

I would have done exactly the same - the signs are up and perfectly clear that you book your place online in advance.

We did Bamburgh last year just before the first trial ended so we could give feedback, a T5 was in the bay next to us, but unbeknown to us, it was already booked by another van, when they turned up words were exchanged and the T5 stormed off - leaving it's pop up roof up 😂

Just had a look, looks like only the first 3 bays are suitable for your van so fare enough.

Do new arrivals have any way of knowing places are reserved?

Yes, it's all booked online and you can't book if there's no availability

Just checked, there's no availability at any of the 3 sites tonight. Tomorrow has only 3 bays available, 2 at amble, and 1 at Beadnell

We used Bamburgh year before last. I think it is a great scheme but the marked bays could be larger given the size of the car park. We are only a Ducato but glad to be next to a VW T5 !
I think you acted well, explaining and being nice but they were in the wrong at the end of the day.

They do if they book and pay through the website. It shows which pitches are vacant.
Not sure whether you can just rock up and pay at the machine.

I would have said it is our space like you would have offered to help but likely be turned down
It’s a shame you were put in that position
I once booked a first class seat to London on the train taking my mother to a London hospital
A real obnoxious women in my seat tram packed point blank refused to move
It was a case I either forced her out or give in

But, there's something like 10 marked bays, and you leave a bay between each Motorhome, so, Motorhome, empty bay, Motorhome, empty bay, etc

You did the right thing, I guess your pitch had something nicer about it, view, level, no puddles maybe

As you say you have to chose a pitch number when you book and the web site doesnt show the pitch locations , I posted sometime ago about that location wondering which pitch was the better one so I wouldn’t be disappointed on arrival 🤔😁

Never did find out, can you now give me your preference / opinion please 👍

Beadnell, bay 1, with your door opening to the sea, the best one 👍

Must have been reorganised since then, as only 6 I think and they were definitely too close. I did write feedback at the time (2022).

Yes, that's the theory, but some people avoid paying by turning up late and leaving early - parking in the supposedly empty bays overnight.😐

Must be a really stressful way of motorhoming - trying to time your arrival/departure to avoid being caught not coughing up a tenner.
