BBC Sounds no more.

As the title suggests...Sounds has now become unavailable outside the UK.
Even with a VPN there is no connection here in Spain, on opening, a message to install the new app is there, this will get BBC 4, World service and Podcasts.
I'm not going to be able to listen to Jimmy Young anymore..

BBC Radio has all but lost us - we only listen to Radio 2 in the TOAD as its an FM radio not DAB.

We now listen to Rayo Greatest Hits radio and followed Ken Bruce et al when they moved from the BBC.

Those with a UK SIM in their phones (us!) can still use Sounds, in Ireland at least ..

Thanks for this update Martin. I really hope we can still get it just for Tony Blackburn too . I knew we couldn’t get everything all the time before, can’t remember why now it was something to do with copyright or similar I recall.

Update....I get BBC radio 4 and world service, with my Spanish SIM but my VPN fails me....
I suppose anyone coming into Eurozone on a local SIM might have the same issues...
Waiting for further feedback for those who have UK SIM cards....and are Licence payers...be careful there is a undercover TV Licence detectorist lurking on fun..

I am connected to a Dutch campsite wifi service and bbc sounds work. No issue here.

Working here in Berlin this morning, radio 5 live using Id mobile sim in a MU5001 router, no activated VPN.

I just tried this, in France, and can still get Sounds (Radio 4 currently playing Desert Island Discs with Gustavo Dudamel). This is on a laptop using SFR and a VPN. I can get all the stations.

This is true but once the licensing changes to say a streaming model either pay for add free radio or put up with adverts !!

I've been recording those on the Sky box since pre covid and play them through the house sound system when we need some music. Strange hearing the news breaks when they talk about lockdown and the possibility of snow in the middle of July.

Which VPN? Perhaps some may (or may not) work better than others?

Probably a false test given I’m in the UK & BBC could use other location data/knowledge about user account - connected Windscribe VPN to Madrid, launched BBC Sounds and played Radio 2 for a couple of mins.

I'm using Surfshark it's worked for the past 4 years to great effect when needed...BBC iPlayer for example...Sky also...but BBC sounds isn't connecting...

I uninstalled the BBC sounds app....
Connected my Surfshark.
Went to BBC home page...logged in..
I'm connected...BBC 2..
Loud and clear...
