Not enough
I had an issue in France with my leisure battery overheating. I had it replaced but l believe they replaced it with a standard non leisure lead acid battery as that was all they had.

What are my options? I could just replace it for a Gel that was installed but would l be able to fit something like a Fogsrar Drift LifePo4.

I have 100 watt solar panel but l wasn’t sure if you needed to change the controller.

2003 Hymer B524. The leisure battery is located under the drivers seat.

Unless you spend lots of time off grid, if be inclined to switch back to gels or continue with what you have for now if it's working for you.
Making sure the french battery fitter altered the setting on your EBL to lead acid ?
I don't think lithium are a straight swop but other techies with more knowledge will be able to advise better.
The solar controller is a separate issue, and if your existing controller is working why change. There may be more efficient controllers now but it probably comes down to how much cash you want to spend.

Lithium is not really a straight swap sadly on most vans. Upgrades required on mains charges, solar charger and alternator chargers I believe. Going through the process myself soon and there is a lot of kit on the Quote from Off Grid Solutions. Not cheap.

I don’t think he altered any settings, is this a setting on the controller?

Six years ago I replaced my leisure battery with a new starter battery because it was free. I'm rarely hooked up and don't have solar panels and it is still working fine.
However, I'm never stationary for more than 3 nights and my usage is very basic.

Is there an Electroblock EBL, and if so what model number is it? Usually the battery type setting is a small switch on the front panel of the EBL. Often Blei-Saure (= lead-acid) and Blei-Gel.

Just make sure the starter battery is a sealed type, not one of those with six screw vents, that can be topped up with distilled water. The vented type are not suitable for installing in the habitation area, due to gases that need venting to the outside.

I would take some advice contact RogerIvy him and nigelivy run Off Grid they will give you good advice & good prices, you won't find a more helpful team.

You can do just a straight drop in if you wanted. You won’t get maximum performance but it would function better than a standard leisure battery. In an ideal world fitting all the other linked kit is the ‘proper’ way to do things, but if your use is minimal it’s not necessary to invest to the full extent in my opinion.

You have a new battery , aren't a heavy user, stay as you are,you should get at least 3 to 5 yrs out of your new starter battery( get charging profile correct) if it ain't broke why fix it ?

Ditto stevewagner above!

Drop in replacement worked for me.

Just changed Solar controller. I wanted to change to mppt anyway.

Added a smart shunt just so I know where I am

Go for it.
