This is driving me nuts.
I have a Phantom alarm connected to the engine battery.
It flattens the battery every month or so.
If I connect to external power, it gets charged up so clearly there is a connection between leisure system and engine battery.
I have a factory fitted solar charger but this does not seem to charge engine battery - just leisure.
Any thoughts? I'm in the south east if any solution needs me to go to an electrical specialist.
TIA

Our CBE based system only charges the Cab battery from the Leisure battery if the main panel is on, and the voltage on the leisure battery is above 13.5v i.e. it is being charged. Thats fine when were using the van since the panel will be on, but when in storage and the panel is off no charging takes place.

We put in an Ablemail AMT12, which does a similar job to the BatteryMaster mentioned by oldiesontour.

The BM will trickle charge the cab battery when the leisure battery voltage is around 0.8v higher than the cab battery, it only trickles at around an amp, but that in most circumstances will be enough to compensate for a tracker/alarm and self discharge.

How old is the start battery?

stuartlloyd2000 ,If you look at the Classifieds section ( in the menu) ,the Motorhome fun shop has information about the Vanbitz version of a battery master with details about its operation and fitting which will will enable trickle charging of your starter battery from your leisure battery using its mains charger/solar charging supply. (they are very easy to fit and Vanbitz offer a Motorhome fun member discount )

BY jove, I think you've got it. Lovely sunny day and I've turned the panel on. It's a 20 plate van so battery should be good. I'll report back later.
