2015 for a year then a break. Now a newbie again!
Starter battery down to 11.7 on my drive. I have mains hook up but that doesn't charge the engine battery. Is it ok to connect a mains charger permantly while parked up. A trickle charger perhaps?
Simple question for some, tricky one for a numbskull. TIA

Yes, and yes.👍

You could resolve that issue by fitting a (Vanbitz) Battery Master. If your engine battery falls 0.7V (or thereabouts) below your leisure battery your leisure battery will trickle charge your engine battery.

Yes. I have a CTEK MXS5.0 installed in mine. Project for next week is installing a hook up point and socket and getting a permanent charge facility.

Will you use an arctic blue mains type hook up set up?

Looks like a good option thanks

Sorry I don't understand what you mean :(
Ah, I must have misunderstood.
Did you mean you are going to have an alternative charging system as opposed to installing a connection for your CTEK?

My van currently doesn't have any electrics. Pre-conversion. I am installing a EHU socket on the side and semi-permanently connecting my CTEK charger from this to the van battery.
The hab battery will be lithium and have it's own charger. I do have one of eddie battery masters, but not sure how they work with Lithium to Lead. That is for down the road and I need the CTEK installing now.

Jo May I will be using one of these. This will be permanently attached to the battery. The charger will be in the back and removable should I need it for anything else, but will generally always be connected.

There was a discussion about this a while ago and I postulated that (given that the BM operates on a voltage delta of 0.7V) the LiFePO4 battery would always be feeding the engine battery. However, it was counter argued that the delta wasn’t 0.7V and was closer to 1V.
