Elddis Encore 254

Hi, just found out that our 2016 Elddis Encore (Peugeot Boxer) has 3 x 12 volt batteries. 1 under the floor by the front passengers feet (Starter one me thinks with lots of leads and connectors). 1 in the garage off side under a screwed down cover (6 screws, Leisure one me thinks with a red and a black lead) and 1 just located when taking the carpet up to clean it, between the two benches behind the front seats, and under a wooden / floor hatch with a thumb turn for access............this one is connected with a black lead and a red lead........could anyone advise what this battery is for / does?

I would guess at a 2nd leisure battery which will be connect to the one in the garage. The one behind the seats is probably the original and the one in the garage added later. I am sure someone will be along with a bit more knowledge on this soon.

Hi and thanks for the information.............you maybe correct however, they both appear to have been fitted when it was built in 2016. I am going to a garage later today for a new starter battery so, will ask them to check.

We’ve seen some mods where extra leisure batteries are added to provide power for specific functions (that is, not attached in parallel to existing leisure battery).
This setup is unusual but possible.

Should you not get an answer some photos with the terminal connections would assist in identifying what the set up is.

You could measure the voltages of all the batteries. The starter battery should be slightly different from the other two. If the other two always have the same voltage as each other, then they are connected in parallel and are acting as one big leisure battery.

If the voltages of the are sometimes different, such as when you switch on a load and the voltage reduces, then they are wired as two independent batteries. But it's most likely that they are wired in parallel to act as one big leisure battery.

Thanks again to you all for the advice. Please find pictures attached as requested Picture 1 is starter battery situated under carpet in cab, 2 is battery under garage, 3 is battery under hatch between bench seats, 4 is hatch, 5 is cover.
