No problem Jim if they would like to deposit all spare cash with me I will make sure it is invested only in fast cars women and beer and if there is any left over I would advise them to waste it.?

Bitcoin is a great payment system for people with Internet access and who want trustless payments. You can buy it for cash if you can find local sellers. The price is highly volatile, so son't speculate in it until you have a very good understanding of it.

I doubt homeless people will be interested in bitcoins! Whatever they are....

But it good to see the bank offering this service, I suspect there will be a large monthly fee for holding these accounts though.

I thought there were a couple of new internet banks, where you can open with copy driving license and or passport?
Everything online?

Maybe these accounts would be ideal for scammers too ?

Crypto pay offer transfers for crypto currencies via Faster Payments, but you need to have a regular bank account of course. With the increasing move away from cash, crypto currencies will become increasing important, and some homeless beggars have been seen accepting Bitcoin via cellphones.

I’ve used Boatmail for the past 10 years for my bank. Also had DL and V5 and Insurance there for a time too?

I wonder if Tesco would give me the correct change for one bitcoin, currently if I spent £100 and pay with 1 bitcoin I would expect £5,699.25 back ?

Homeless beggars accepting bitcoin on their smartphones............ I think I'm heading towards the daily fail view on that!!!!

Why would you need change? You would just pay the correct amount in Satoshi. If fact you can get a debit card that converts coins from your wallet, and pays Tescvo in Sterling. You don't get the best exchange rate if you do that though.

What is the actual advantage of bitcoin other than it being secret I cant see any?

I'm sure The Metro Bank already have a non means tested debit card with swipe facilities. What a great bank the Metro bank is. :xThumb:

The Wino

It is a trustless payment system, and it is deflationary. It is a myth that it is secret. All transactions are stored permanently on a public blockchain, and are available for analysis and inspection by anybody.

Well Bitcoin is up 7% over the last 24 hours, that's a better return than most savers get in a year. or two :)

Doesn't look like a good time to buy though ......

It isn't like any other asset class, so you have to delve quite deeply to make an investment decision. 20-30% moves up and down are quite usual, as are hockey stick rises. As I said before, it isn't for widows and orphans. There is a "halving" coming up, and that has been over-hyped in my opinion. We won't get a clear picture until after Trump has been re-elected, and Brexit has happened. It will also be interesting to discover where the $1.5 trillion in cash has gone. It seems it's mainly being stored in $100 bills.
