Baking soda and super glue !! Plastic bonding repair works !!

I often sit and watch crap on YouTube, but based on the theory of kissing a lot of frogs before you find your princess ... I saw someone make a repair on a plastic section (amongst other things), so today having to carry out a repair on a piece of uPVC conservatory trim, I put it to the test. It was a piece that had broken off and I had the broken piece, I was able to build up a bit of support at the rear using the baking soda and then added a few drops of super glue

It only bloody worked didn't it!! Repair is rock solid (at the moment) and you can't really see the repair unless you look closely.

It's one I will def use in the future and I reckon would work well on broken wing mirror housings if you had all the pieces ...

PS no wing mirrors were hurt or endangered when making this public service announcement ...

Great idea.

If one applies a bit too much where it is visible is it easy to rub back down? Presumably it would then end up with a frosty finish.

It is like hard plastic, easy to sand or file down. It is somewhat opaque but can be painted if needed

Superglue works with any dust/powder in my experience, when I was working with carbon fibre I used to fill holes that I had drilled in the wrong place or countersunk too deep, I just used carbon dust off the workbench (there was plenty of it) and it was black.
