Does this mean that the Abbey wood campsite is effectively out of bounds for motorhomes or just the older ones?

This is what I hate about London, it seems nothing is out of bounds if you have enough money to pay the charges🤬🤬

Any vehicle can enter the zone but with some it cost a fortune!!

It's plainly stated on the campsite information that it is in the low emmision zone and you should check your vehicle online to see if it is chargeable, He obviously did not do his checks.

I didn’t think the extended LEZ was in operation yet I thought it was inside the north and south circular and Abbey Wood is certainly not by at least 3 miles ?

It is inside the LEZ - so if his van is over 3500kgs it needs to be Euro6. Nothing to do with ULEZ - that joy starts on the 29th August 2023.

Just Euro 6 ? I was lead to believe Euro 5 and Euro 4 can use it without charge as well?

Yes The ULEZ wont be extended until August 2023, however lets hope that there are enough protests to put a halt on this happening, especially during this cost of living crises, everyone needs a little help, and Khan needs the boot once and for all.

I do feel sorry for the poor guy and his family visiting London, according to Fun Forum that will be the 3rd time he has been fined in the last week, I hope he gets his £1400 rebate again from TFL, for each time.:giggle:

I think its just Euro 6, but you can check by entering your reg number in the TFL website to check if there are any charges for any vehicle.

Forget the ULEZ I cannot now enter the LEZ to get to my own house without paying £300 per day, despite originally having a letter confirming my vehicle was compliant.

It appears that every time Tfl move the goalposts one is meant to change one's vehicle.

What vehicles does the LEZ apply to?

The London Low Emission Zone requirements impact the following vehicles exceeding 3.5 tonnes GVW: HGVs, lorries, vans, motor caravans, motorised horseboxes, breakdown and recovery vehicles, snow ploughs, gritters, refuse collection vehicles, road sweepers, concrete mixers, fire engines, tippers, removal lorries and other specialist vehicles.

The Minimum emissions standard is: Euro VI/6 (NOx and PM), there is no charge for compliant vehicles, however, there will be a £100.00 daily charge for vehicles that only meet euro IV/4 or V/5 (PM only). There will be a £300.00 daily charge for vehicles that do not meet Euro IV/4. (PM only).

Vans and other specialist vehicles including 4x4 light utility vehicles, motorised horse boxes, breakdown and recovery vehicles and dual-purpose vehicles exceeding 1.205 tonnes unladen weight (ULW) and not exceeding 3.5 tonnes gross vehicle weight (GVW) will require a minimum emissions standard of Euro 3 (PM) or pay a daily charge of £100.00.

This is the really nasty bit:

Penalties

TfL may issue a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) if you drive within the ULEZ without meeting emissions standards or paying the appropriate daily charge. Failure to pay the daily access charge for a non-compliant HGV will result in a Penalty Charge Notice (PCN) of £1,000 (reducible to £500 if paid within 14 days). For large vans, minibuses and other relevant vehicles between 1.205 and 3.5 tonnes the penalty is £160 (reducible to £80 if paid within 14 days). Failure to pay a PCN within 28 days will result in the fine increasing to £1,500 or £240 (depending on vehicle size).

Both Abbey Wood and Crystal Palace are inside the LEZ. From 29th August they will also both be inside the new ULEZ Boundary if the maniac that is known as Sadiq Khan survives the current judicial review being brought by six London councils.

Barcelona and possibly other citys have day passes that allow vehicles that normaly don't comply, to enter the zone, that would have been ideal in this case.
Having lived in Spain for 15 years I know you're not wrong, however, this is broken, rip-off Britain! something I learn about every day.

Which goes to show it’s got nothing to do with clean air it’s all about making money, I can’t believe people are so stupid as to pay it.

AW is effectively OB unless you have a compliant van or pay the daily fee. We use AW and luckily are compliant. Easier to book it since the ULEZ

I checked this site out following the similar threads, I don’t think it’s plainly stated

There is a section about important things, the LEZ is not point 1 and comes in just above a warning about squirrels on site, it really should come up in red as part of the booking that you have to acknowledge

I can easily see me missing the LEZ info when making a booking, although thanks to the forum I am now wiser and hope not to forget now that I know 🙄

I have just checked our vehicle which is a 2015 Ducato based Rapido. When I ordered it we were told that it was a Euro 5+. There is very little data about the 5+ but we are, apparently, compliant for the ULEZ! Hopefully someone will come and explain what a Euro 5+ engine is! Would I risk, it no danger (once drove round the Paris ring road accidently and that was horrendous!) I guess what I am saying don't assume because you are not a Euro 6 vehicle you are not compliant if you are a 2015 ish vehicle check on the TFL website.

My take on it would be if you have a zero emissions you can go in if you haven’t you cannot, definitely save more lives that is their ultimate goal??

But they are in deep shit and sinking faster if they don’t rinse more money out of traveler’s , seems they are stepping up on public transport now also🤬🤬

It’s about time that ALL the delivery companies stopped delivering for shops/restaurants/businesses etc & telling the Mayor that they will only deliver as far as the M25. This should bring London to its knees.

Let’s face it, it’s got nothing to do with clean air.
He trying to force people onto TFL and rinse those who choose not to.

I stayed at Abbey Wood last. Whatever you think about ULEZ etc, its pretty easy to find out if you are compliant or not. It's not up to the campsite to have it in bold type or anything like that, it's up to individuals to take responsibility for what they do. Took me about 3 minutes to Google, find the right site, put in my registration number and find I was ok. It's not that difficult. The guy in the newspaper article is not doing himself any favours and in the end it was not £2000 it was £600, Bet he won't do that again. He wants to go to Belgium and Germany and drive in their ULEZ/Umwelt zones and see what happens there.

It is actually meant to help with cleaning up the air. The case they make is if you make it more expensive to drive in a LEZ fewer people will do it. The unintended consequence is that those that can afford to, still get to pollute the cities...

The only way to do it properly is to ban all vehicles but that way the will make no money!
