Afternoon all having a wee bit of trouble with rear lights on a 21 swift kon tiki put the lights on the right hand indicator comes on without the lights on if I indicate the rear lights flash with it also the top marker light. Cleaned the earth from the front to rear plug still no change. Unplugged the light cluster bot top marker light still flashing when indicating. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers Graham

Is it standard old fashioned bulbs?
Is it a shared brake rear & light bulb?
I’ve found before that these have failed and elements have crossed causing a few funny oddities.

No unfortunately not there led sealed units but I disconnected the cluster and the top marker light still flashed when I indicate. So looks like the cluster is not causing the problems

I had a similar problem, it was corroded connectors, an auto electrician sorted it out by fitting new connectors.

Thanks I had a look at the main connector it seems ok but the side marker light connectors are all quite corroded so I'll clean them all up when I get the chance. It's probably something simple but always a pain to find. Cheers for your help 👍

It's a bad earth somewhere.
One set of lights is earthing via a second set causing them to light.
Often seen on trailers and light boards.
Indicate and tail light flashes, brake and indicator comes on as well etc

Do you have tow electrics?
Often problems with them.

Your Swift Motorhome may be fitted with a Sargent VLM5 (vehical light monitoring unit) which is for the rear LED light operation , and trailer lights fitting when required , it could be worth checking the connections at this unit , which may be at/near the rear of the Motorhome..

Years ago had one of the first merc vito traveliner, if you held your foot on the brakes you could take the ignition key fully out ignition off and the engine stayed running. Was chased back to rear bulb had failed internally,
Wonders of modern electrical systems.
In the ops case I’d bet the point the towbar fitters tapped into the feeds is causing the problem

I had similar issues caused by water in the back of the tow socket.

Update all,

Managed to get it sorted today after our holiday away, Accessed the VLM5 after disconnecting all the rear lights one at a time but the problem was still there. So unplugged the connector from the VLM5 Module for the tow bar electrics and all working fine so inspected the tow bar electrics after taking the plug off, couldn't see anything obvious so decided to tighten all connector screws and put it back together. Plugged back into the VLM5 and all still working correctly, so happy days.

Just like to say thanks to everyone who gave me advice cheers from a happy chap.
