Anyone installed a B2B in a 2014 elegance. I need to get a D+ connection. Where is the easiest? The base vehicle connection behind the drivers seat? The Electroblock is too far away from the battery locker….

Can I just take a 12V feed from the fuse box? Would that work the same? I assume not as it would be present when the key is in position 1 and not when the alternator is running.

Usually the base vehicle connection includes at least a 'power' connection to the starter battery and a 'signal' connection to the D+. You could test the connection with a meter to see if it is about +12V when the engine is running, and about zero when the engine stops.

It's a 'signal' connection because it is intended to provide a very low amps current to switch on a relay, not to power anything like a light or motor. Usually it will be a thin wire, with a fuse of about 2A to 5A on it.

If you have an Elktroblock you can tap into the d+ cable on the front of the EBL.
If you have an EBL what model is it?

Hi folks,

Thanks for the feedback.

we have an ebb 220, with an adaptor panel AD01. I can tap into D1 at the EB, but the cable run is right the the double floor to get back through to the B2B. Hence consideration of the base vehicle connector as a potential source. I need to find a wiring diagram for the base vehicle sockets then…..

Unfortunately Manufacturers never give out wiring diagrams so you have to do it the hard way.

As Lenny says you may have to do it the hard way.
Get someone to help (they can start and stop the engine for you)

Using a multimeter check which of the thinner wires in the EBL don’t have +12v with engine off.
Start the engine and check again - wires which now have +12v are possibly D+
Stop and start the engine a few times just to be sure.

After while you get to be quite good at guessing which wires to test.

The converters socket on the drivers 'B' pillar will give a connection, but not a true D+.
This website tells you how to use that connection and a relay to give a 'true' D+

There’s a device called a “D+ Simularor”. Basically checks for engine vibrations. If engine is vibrating for a few seconds it assumes it’s running and provides +12v on a wire. You have to bolt the device to the engine and provide it with +12v (and neutral of course).
Votronic are one of the manufacturers of this device, but there are other makes.
